I´m actually baffled by people who didn´t see his contribution last year tbh..

I'm not really baffled by this. A lot of football fans don't understand all aspects of the game. A misplaced pass can make a player really awful in some views. Any goal keep not saving a shot should also be described as awful.

Andrea Pirlo called Victor the next Patrick Vieira. Should give a decent representation of the understanding of Vic within the football community.

Good documentary on Victor at Southampton here, from Kenyan TV. (Victor speaks to the interview in Kenyan - but the rest is in English)

I enjoyed it, anyway.

You're not wrong of course but there was more than the odd misplaced pass last season! The Liverpool game showed what he is capable of and in my humble opinion he played way better than in any game last season.

I think one of the problems with Wanyama is that we (me!) expect players to be good at everything and they aren't. Now, I've always been quick to spot his weaknesses and maybe not quick enough to acknowledge his strengths, but I think there are plenty of others who do the opposite and have him walking on water.

Probably a fair point there LFF. Come join the love though!

He was excellent at getting the ball with a man all over him, and using his strength to turn and skip past him, much like a Yaya Toure or Vieira would. Him and Schneids is the perfect combo for 2 deep midfielders, if only they could chip in with a few goals!

I think the reason people might not be massive Wanyama fans is his style. The nutural fan I was sitting next to in the pub watching the Liverpool game commented "That Wanyama likes a backwards pass".

I think he was a rock vs Liverpool, and just what we need.

Big Vic was excellent in the opening game of last season away at WBA, really impressive - i remember leaving the ground saying that we have some player here. He also had some other good games during the season but after he got the injury he wasnt consistently so good imo and Morgan and Jack Cork did a great job for most of the season. No doubt that Vic is a super player in his position and if he can keep his performance level as high as the Liverpool game it could be a good season for him and Saints.
