He can be. There were times with QPR (and that one game with England) where I was blown away, and you start thinking that he could develop into a monster of an attacking threat. But those instances are few and far between, and his decision-making on the whole is awful, and doesn't appear to be improving. I don't think that he's a player that you can rely upon to contribute positively more often than not...he's in the same spot as the Ben Arfas of the world, good for a highlight reel but less so for a team.

Like Mayuka (but 10x more expensive).

Putting he ability (or lack of) to one side, I would be surprised if we signed Townsend.

Firstly, if I'm Spurs, I reject Saints' advancements purely out of spite - unless the offer is out of the world. If Saints are putting their foot down over Morgan, then I'm doing to same back over Townsend.

Secondly, the moment Townsend becomes available, Harry will be all over that like a rash. With QPR offering him stupid wages no doubt.

Ok then if you insist. :)

Seriously I doubt there are too many more irons in the fire for us right now. Hopefully on deadline day something will come up, probably going to come out of Europe rather than here.

PS did Geoff Cameron turn out to be a real rumour? I'm guessing not.

I still think a couple of mid table PL clubs will ending picking up a loan from Man Utd. Too late in the day really for Utd to be able to sell of all these 'average' players of theirs.

Whether or not we turn out to be one of those PL clubs though?

Well I certainly wouldn't say no to Hernandez, and he looks as though he's 4th or 5th in the pecking order at OT.

Hernandez probably is fourth choice in the long run, yes. Rooney, RVP and Welbeck are ahead of him for sure. Could still do better than us though.

Don't Koeman and Van Gaal hate each other? Constantly sniping at each other in the press in Holland, similar to Mourinho and Wenger or Benitez and Ferguson. Or have I just made that up? If they do then I don't think Van Gaal will want to do us any favours by loaning us players

Yeah they do. Not going to be an easy one if Ron wanted someone from up there.

One thing worth pointing out, a few more good performances like today before the end of the window could help exponentially - if players see that we're not a "club in crisis" but actually a "club that looks half decent", it may swing a few people round.

They do not like each other. Van Gaal was accused of micromanaging by Koeman. In retaliation he said he had to because Koeman was a little boy who didn't know what he was doing.

Yep, and when van Gaal got the Holland job for the 2nd time, Koeman was asked about it and said he'd turned the job down.

Also said that several others also had so van Gaal was the country's last resort.
