This is all utterly confusing to me as a normal football fan. Over the past couple of seasons the Jack Cork that i have watched has been one of our best players in a very good team. I am totally amazed that Saints wish to sell Cork as well as all the others that have been let go. However the manager and the management team are the experts so i suppose that they must know best. But it does leave this fan confused and a bit sad if Cork is sold.
I haven't seen anything from Reed to suggest to me he's good enough to be above Cork in the pecking order. JWP is developing, but I don't see any other first team, Premier League quality kids yet. We got rid of our best ones, we can't expect them all to be a Shaw or a Chambers.
I'm afraid you kind of do have to give a **** about his decisions as they're the ones which are going to happen. I like Jack Cork as a footballer and I personally think he is better than JWP at the present moment and positions himself better defensively and keeps hold of ball better. However in the brief cameo from Taider I think he at least looks on par with Jack and could prove to be better.
We should be getting rid of Morgan, Victor, Davis, and Ramirez in that case. None weighed in with more than two league goals last season if memory serves.
As Dan, I am not going crazy over Koeman being our manager until he proves himself. But then I am also not going to slate him yet either. If Koeman thinks Reed is a better option then for the time being I will have faith that he knows what he is on about.
The bottom line is, in Koeman's formation, we only need 1 player to play the deep role rather than 2. As a result Wanyama and Schneiderlin are both ahead of him in that role and perhaps Reed is now too. Can't blame him for moving on that basis
But does anyone actually genuinely expect Schneiderlin to ever play for us again? It'll be a very nice surprise if he does.
Difference is you are a fan so don't see everything a manager see's. Time will tell if Koeman is right.
People are getting very precious about this. Koeman does not rate him. He has one year left on his contract. He does not want to sign on as a back up. As much as it may shock people on here, Koeman probably knows just a tad more about football than someone who posts on an internet forum and has watched from the stands. The links to various centre midfielders and loan (with option to buy as well) of taider are also pretty big clues as to how he regards Cork
Don't be silly; if he doesn't leave us in this window (which I'm 90% sure he won't), then refusing to play for us would ruin his career.
If he said it to Morgan then who else did he say it to? What else did Cortese promise or line up for the players?
If a player wants to leave, and Cortese says "please give us one more season and then we'll move you on" that's fine by me. It's the right thing to do.
You're right. Koeman knows more about football than us so what's the point in us even having a debate or opinions? This is what a football forum is for, for fans to express an opinion. It may not always be the right one but we're allowed our say on the club's dealings. But instead, let's all just blindly hail King Koeman. I'm still very reserved in my opinion. I hope he knows what he's doing, and he probably does, but there's no evidence either way yet.
A brief cameo in a preseason friendly. Great. I'll go with the guy who has played 70/80 actual real games, thanks. Have I slated him? I just implied it's naive to put so much trust into a largely unproven manager.
