Well im really happy with the fee, it was to good to turn down , honestly dont think he will pull any trees up at Southampton, City laughing all the to the bank, Bruce gets a pat on the back from AA , and the merry go round starts again
We've got to look at it this way, what can we get for £12m that's an improvement on Long? If that money can buy us a better player, why aren't southampton signing them instead?
http://www.manchestereveningnews.co...ts/senior-cup-match-report-manchester-7581721 Get him signed on loan bruce joyce his coach at present so should do us a favour
I was reading on one of their fans forums that he's the style of player they need to fill in for J Rod. As well as having Premier league experience, which a lot of their new signings don't have, so he might just be the right fit at the right time.
Dont understand Koeman, he must know about loads of top quality Dutch players he could get at half the price, why go for Long, he prob knows hardly anything about him
If Long really is going then it's good financial business no doubt. However he wasn't really banging them in last season for us, we got through the first half of last season reasonably well without much of a strike force, so with Jelavic, Sagbo, Aluko and Ince all looking fit how about hanging on to the money and see how things look in January?
£12 million for a player who is unsettled in the north is excellent. Is the 15% sell-on fee to West Brom correct?
Now confirmed, we've accepted a bid of £12.5m... http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...5m-bid-Shane/story-22713821-detail/story.html You can't really complain about a £5m profit in seven months, he's never worth £12.5m, all we need to do now is replace him.
Just a thought... But maybe with the Ince tribunal coming up soon, city might have a sniff that there are going to have to lump up some big money, like 5-6 million? So if they sell long for 12.5m with whats left in the transfer kitty, paying Blackpool off for Ince it would leave a decent amount for Bruce to make another decent striker signing?? Without having to go into additional money. Plus if Bruce thinks Ince has done really well so far and his current system won't get the best out of Ince, he's decided to get rid of Long for big money and bring in another striker that will, or another midfielder suite the new system.
I'm amazed how happy everyone is about losing our main forward. Let's hope we can get some good profit on Huddlestone?
Doubt it very much. I looked round most of their forums last night, only one poster on one forum thought there was a sell on clause, the rest think otherwise. Sell on clauses are usually stuck in on youngsters or players allowed to leave for a small fee, we paid top whack for Long, agreeing to a sell on clause would have been mental.
I know it's the daily mail. However this was stated when he signed. "Sportsmail understands there is a 15 per cent sell-on clause, money due if Hull avoid relegation and so on." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...finally-nearing-completion-deal-worth-7m.html
Shane is an absolute pest and his assists will be greater than the goals he scores himself. Great to have him at the club but if £12m is on the table then I would be putting the 'for sale' sign up! He's not a natural or prolific goalscorer as we have seen, if we can find one, and we should be able to by reinvesting the money, then good business all round.
Remy has a cheap release clause for top 4 clubs i.e Liverpool. He would be much more expensive to us and would then require massive wages. Remy's a no go. If someone cam in with a £20m-£25m offer for Hudd, I'd sell him. I think that's double what he is worth to us, as I think £12m is more than double what Long is worth.
Tidy profit. Spend it wisely please. As good as Long is, during his time at the club our record was not startling, when he was playing. I'm sad to see him go but let's be optimistic for the future. Looking forward to a sock removing announcement soon!
Still the same old crap being spouted here. Wow what a great profit you all say. He isn't worth that. Grab he cash! My house isn't worth what I ipad, and if I sell I will make a profit. The next one I buy that matches it for quality is going to cost even more too... We are not exactly winning. If we can even begin to find a comparable replacement then he will cost at least that much and probably want even more in wages. Which will mean we have swapped one striker for another and the profit vanishes. Long was our grafter and goal getter. Before we had him we didn't score. It's just bad news and I can't see any positives.
Being one step anyway from the Europa Group Stages and FA Cup Finalists ... we should be able to to atracted a 'Blow your socks off ' player.. Swansea got Bony , we should be able to pull in the same sort of profile player who raises our rivals eyebrows
