It's only a brilliant piece of business if we can replace with better. Southampton can't get anyone better for 12 million so what makes you think we can?
How much would that Fryatt bloke at the Twigs be now ? I reckon he'd score more goals than Long,this season.
Like some have said selling Long for a good profit is good for the club to make money how ever we must have a replacement lined up or else we go to QPR a weakened team without doubt, lets hope SB has a good replacement lined up. I for one don't think you get many forwards who work as hard or run the channels like long does. His only down fall is not scoring enough goals but i certainly think unless we bring in a very good forward then we will miss him
He's a winger though, we'll need an out and out striker.
Also, he's never played a first team game for Bayern, I doubt we'd be interested in him being a first choice player for us. Good player though.
Yea he scored against Belgium. Word is that Bayern do not want to sell him but are willing to let him go out on loan. He is a Long type player. Would be more of a like for like switch than others that have been mentioned.
I liked Shane Long because he worked exceptionally hard and was a brilliant professional, he fitted in well here with the other Irish lads and contributed to our great team spirit. Now we'll get a thuggish **** like Deeney or a massive bellend like Bendtner. Strikers like Long are a rarity in today's game. Name someone worth £12M or less that is better than Long.
He plays as a striker as well. Im just tossing out names though, we do have a couple loan spots open and a player like him would make some sense.

Very disappointed, a few days before the season starts is bad karma IMO. We will miss him v much.
We were probably going to get Dawson anyway so that's hardly compensation for losing your best striker.
That'd bollocks. That doesnt make a good finisher what about the chances he's missed, the amount of goals he scored last season says otherwise.
Based on your logic Mark Oxley is a decent finisher
