I read a lot, does it mean it's all true. I appreciate the amount of speculative **** the British press print. The fee was undisclosed.

Dont understand why people are now saying Long isn't the man we need when it looks like he could be on his way. With his pace and work rate he creates so many chances for himself and other team mates, granted he could get more goals than he does but with a full season ahead with a team that looks like going places, i think he would bag a lot this year, so i for one would be extremely sorry to see him leave.

I can't see Bruce letting this happen unless someone else was on the way in. Yes we have four options but as already stated none of them with the mobility or speed of Long...

Rhodes for me too, but I reckon he'll cost the same as Long is going for.

But IMO Long is better than Jelavic and therefore we are weaker in the final third.

OLM tweeted in the other thread that we were close to signing somebody but he didn't know who. It may be Longs replacement.

What i like about Long his is pace and work rate which if this is true we will miss how ever everyone has a price but unlike some on here i think we need a decent replacement, lets be honest Jelly will score a few, Aluko needs to get back to been the player we know, Ince hopefully will come good but is not yet proven at this level and Sagbo had a good game the other night but overall he has been disappointing hopefully that was down to it been his first season in English football.

I don't think this is happening, not 4 days before a pivotal Premier League game and certainly not unless we already have a more than adequate replacement lined up. There's no official word from the club, from any local sources. Just some guy on Sky Sports News who thinks he's heard something. In fact, it hasn't even made it onto their live transfer blog, which is strange considering he's such an important person there.

It doesn't make sense that Shane's on the move unless they've offered him a really lucrative contract, he's only just arrived. If I was City I'd reject it.

I am with you. Was from the first post I read on this.

It isn't about what we get for him it's what we need to spend to get another goal scorer. They are rare as rocking horse **** and we did well to nab him in the first place. We don't have a natural predator if he goes.

I would keep him and take the goals over the fee. I worry we go back to struggling to score again as let's face it jelly isn't scoring for fun.

Bad news. I can't see quite why we are doing it unless he has seen a huge wage dangled and asked to go, or we have a cheeky replacement nailed on

People currently dealing with denial and anger. A long way (no pun intended) to go before they reach acceptance.

Players come and go. Sometimes you need to the balance the books.

I suspect if this is true it's a mix of player / wife would like to be in the South, Saints get wind and take a punt, we crank up the price whilst working on our own incoming deal, Saints pony up the money and BANG = done deal, done deal, done deal.

That is until the club release a statement in the morning saying it all bullcaca.

£12m would be a cracking fee. But to replace him would be hard work.

Interesting - Wickham would be a good signing, young as well. Remy would be unbelievable but can't see him choosing us over the likes of Newcastle though
