This has come out of the blue and seems like it's happening. As many have said, £6-7m was too much for him, so I'd definitely sell him for £12m! The problem is, who do we sign as a replacement? Ings? Rhodes? Bendtner? A player on loan? A foreign striker?

7.5 including add-ons was the price in the media back in January. Its highly probable that there was a sell on clause in the deal as well. So the idea that we are going to make 5-6 mill off a 12 mill sale is most likely incorrect.

What were the add on criteria? Has he met them?

He's too old to have a "probable" sell on clause. WBA spanked our arses at the reported £6m. They'll be no sell on clause.

I really don't think a club in our position can get a striker better than Long, regardless of price. If they're better than Long they shouldn't be playing for Hull City.

Have to disagree. We got Long in our first season. We've since been in an FA Cup Final and are now in Europe. We've also got a stronger squad than we did last season and im guessing there's still players to come in. We have to be a more attractive club now than we were last season before Long signed for us.

With a manager like Bruce, there's always the chance of bringing a player in that you couldnt imagine signing for us in a million years. If we really do sell Long for silly money, dont bank against him bringing in a really top class striker, i cant imagine he'd agree to let him go if he didnt think he could bring someone better in and quickly.

Does anyone else think Bruce might be banking on Ince doing a job. He played well against Stuttgart. It's the only way he can fit him into his 352 with snodgrass as well.

I agree. Ince has looked as mobile as Long and certainly no worse at finishing. Think Bruce has been plesantly surprised with him and Sagbo in pre-season. Ince in the hole and Brady out wide when fit. Sorted.

Rhodes for me

As things stand, if we intend to play 352 I'm not sure we need to sign a replacement. Jelavic can lead the line and Ince looked to link up with him quite well against Stuttgart. Sagbo has been looking impressive and it gives Aluko more of a chance.

If the £7.5m is including add-ons then surely we won't have activated many of them at all. They are normally appearance/goal/international app. based so as he has barely made any of those then our payment must be much smaller

He has most likely already met the add on criteria just about all our add on fees had to do with avoiding relegation.

You seriously think that just because we paid over the price there is no sell on clause? Ok, sure thing on that rational.

Id get Kalou from Lille, he is avalible, and he has bags of European games under his belt, played in the Prem before...
