We need a more obvious one. He's 8 goals a season max. We'll need better to stay up, we won't get lucky twice.
Steve Bruce was collared on the street by a Sky reporter yesterday in London and gave a brief chat on SSN, perhaps he was down there negotiating with Longs replacement?
Why would they go for Long when Remy is available? Is this a joke? I feel like Im standing on the edge of something... If its true, hats off well and truly to Dr Allam and Steve Bruce, but ... oh come on, its a wind up right?
Mirror is confirming it now. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southampton-agree-shane-long-transfer-4042174?
It's a win-win really, whichever way it goes. -If it's rubbish, we keep one of our best forwards and proceed as normal. -If it's true, we get £12m and Bruce has a little less of a dilemma who to play up front with Sagbo, Ince and Aluko all vying for a role there along with Jelavic.
Remy or Javier Hernandez worth a shot? apparently he turned down Southampton because he wants to play in europe... still cant see this happening and am waiting for Burnsey or someone close to the club to say its a load of crap.
Long is not a main goal scorer. he's only ever scored more than 9 once & that was in the Championship. Jelavic will miss more but he'll also score more.
Hernandez favours a move to a club competing in Europe, after turning down Southampton? Good bye Long, hello Chicharito?
Does anyone else think Bruce might be banking on Ince doing a job. He played well against Stuttgart. It's the only way he can fit him into his 352 with snodgrass as well.
AKCJ is right, we have no chance of signing Remy. Replacing Long with Deeney is like replacing a Lambo with a Range Rover. Difference vehicles, difference abilities. We already have Jela who's big and strong. Long is our only mobile striker.
I'm so disappointed at this news. We were probably a striker short anyway and now we're about to sell our best striker.
We paid 7.5 mill with the add-ons and then there is a sell on clause to WBA. You are looking at a profit of 3.5-4.5 mill if you sell long at 12 mill.
Well, with £12m we can buy a better one. Long might be good, but he is nowhere near worth £12m and we won't get any bid like this again for him. He is 27, not getting any younger.
I really don't think a club in our position can get a striker better than Long, regardless of price. If they're better than Long they shouldn't be playing for Hull City.
