That's what worries me about Independence, the ****s who get in power are all hippy, wealth hating, *****s. The tragedy is that the land who produced one of the most influential economists of all time is full of socialist mutants who blame the state for their ills rather than take responsibility of their own lives.

Well, surely you can see why the UK wouldn't want a foreign country building ships that will end up having missile systems on it as opposed to fuel tankers that will be supplying the aforementioned ships?

I completely believe that Scotland wouldn't get the contract to build UK warships(as in frigates, destroyers etc as opposed to fuel tankers) if Scotland voted independence.

Sure. Where are they going to build them then?

Anyway, with independence we would be in the market to build all types of ships from all around the world. Surely you would agree with that being a capitalist?

I wasn't for one minute saying that no contracts for UK warships would kill the industry off, but at the moment, they do build a couple of them do they not? I haven't a clue how many they build. Anyway, do you know anything about the private pensions reforms, if you do, post on the thread that the new guy made about them, it will save me a whole lot of reading.

I agree. But they are only using populism to rile up the disaffected hordes (unwisely disenfranchising the middle class, if you ask me) - the populist fannies won't get in power - whoever does get in power will be surrounded by economists telling them how not to wreck the place. And plus, they drop a little hint of their true post-Independence intentions every now and again.

What does it matter what systems they have aboard...eventually? The weapons systems are fitted after the ships are built.

Yes, which I have stated before. They would still find out some things, they must have some reason, because as the defence secretary said, they don't give contracts to foreign countries for warships, so at a guess it does matter, otherwise they would give them out. Even if it is for the public's peace of mind.

Or they could maybe fit a listening device, or some sort of sabotage thingy, I don't know, use your imagination, you must have seen James Bond?

Couldnt they just blank out the stuff about missiles and stuff with a big black marker pen or maybe some tippex ? This is another No campaign red herring.

The ships that are built in the UK yards don't have any top secret components installed during the build or launch, , everything that is sensitive is fitted by weapons and guidance specialists in the UK. That would be the same for the ships built in Korea.

That's unlikely. They no longer have the facilities, due to the British govt deciding to concentrate resources in Scotland. A move which may turn out to have been an utter ****'s trick.

Commenting on Alex Salmond’s refusal to name a ‘Plan B’ currency for Scotland if the Chancellor were to continue to oppose a currency union, Research Director of the Adam Smith Institute, Sam Bowman, said:

“An independent Scotland could flourish either by using the pound sterling without the permission of the rUK (or by setting up a “ScotPound” pegged to sterling through a currency board, which would achieve a similar end). This ‘sterlingization’ would emulate a number of Latin American countries that use the US Dollar without an official agreement with the US government. Because Scottish banks would not have access to a currency-printing lender of last resort, they would have to make their own provisions for illiquidity, and would necessarily act more prudently.

“Scotland actually had this system of ‘free banking’ during the 18th and 19th centuries, during which time its economy boomed relative to England’s and its banks were remarkably secure. And Panama, which uses the US Dollar in this way, has the seventh most stable financial system in the world.

“Everyone says Mr Salmond needs a Plan B if the rUK does not agree to a currency union with Scotland. But unilateral adoption should be Plan A, making Scotland’s economy more stable and secure. The UK’s obstinacy would be Scotland’s opportunity.”

Ffs Dev, are you deliberately being stupid. It is UK policy that no military warship is built in a foreign country. To say otherwise, or to say it is just a threat is ****ing bollocks.
