Arteta is getting ever slower, Wenger has stated he doesn't see Wilshere playing that role and Flamini seems somewhat out of favour. I guess we will see.

Something Wenger said a couple of weeks ago makes me think that he's still in the market for players.

'I think the transfer window will be quiet for the first two weeks of August and then become open again from the 18th onwards'

or words to that effect.
 
Ornstein is saying Vermaelen is likely to go to Barca this weekend for £15m. Here's hoping a replacement is lined up.

Barcelona now look to be the leading contenders to prise the Belgium centre-back away from Arsenal, who are reported to have wanted Chris Smalling in exchange if they were going to do any sort of deal with United.

If true then big respect to the Arsenal management for showing some cojones.
 
Some reports that we will look to get a player who can play DM and CB. Not sure who this would be but I would much prefer a player for each position. I don't think chambers and a DM who plays CB is good enough backup. Arguably we would have weaker squad depth defensively than last season.

Most reports say only £10.3 Million

Barca have a bargain IMO even at £15 Million. Vermaelen is a Class act.
 
Sporting Lisbon chairman Bruno de Carvalho says they are yet to receive an offer for reported Arsenal and Manchester United target William Carvalho.

Should have tried to get Mascherano off Barca then!
 
I don't think Chelsea would particularly care whether we get through or not, other than so they can take the piss out of us in the Europa. Ba will probably score though
