Berg learned how to cheat at Rangers , playing with players on dodgy contracts , time has now caught up with cheat
That was probably the best team we could have got from the draw. Aren't they half way through their season though?
If this whole sorry episode doesn't convince the board of the need to invest in the team, nothing will. If we had got through "conventionally", then they could've argued no need to spend, team good enough as it. If we'd gone out, they could've said finances are tight with no CL and no guarantee of EL. Now we've been jammy as **** and are guaranteed european football of one sort or another + 4 home games. Surely, surely we can spend a few bob now?
In Delia's nw sysem : A new CB, an actual defensive midfielder (or play billy ocean there), a winger and a striker ...
I don't see how Celtic have ground to proceed. The in-eligible player had no bearing on the result - he came on with 2 minutes remaining. Fair enough kick out LW if FIFA want to be tough - but how can Celtic justifiably go through. I have nothing against Celtic - but this just stinks - Maribor should have a bye to the next round if LW are to be excluded. Lets say Celtic miracle sly win the whole competition - how can that be truly regarded when the team were comfortably beaten in a qualifying round. If the player had come on much earlier, and influenced the result - then perhaps a fairer argument - maybe a replay, huge fine, etc.
Pish. We were on the verge of staging a remarkable recovery when their BANNED player took to the field and was personally responsbile for stopping Celtic scoring five goals. Learn the facts first before coming on here spouting ****e.
LW were not excluded or kicked out. They forfeited the game 3-0 and went out on away goals. If they had scored one of the penalties they missed in the first leg, they would've gone through on aggregate. They remain in europe, dropping down to the EL.
I don't understand your point? FIFA or UEFA or whoever the governing body is has imposed this 3-0 score to justify Celtic going through on away goals. Its academical - whether FIFA slapped a 3-0 or 20-0 score - they are promoting Celtic to the next round having just been beaten legitimately (unless anyone can honestly say 6 goals would have been score had the player not entered the field in the remaining time). Do you really think if LW had won the first leg 5-1 - FIFA/UEFA or whoever would still have applied a 3-0 home win? For me - the issue is not what happens to LW - whether they are fined, kicked out of the competition - whatever - it is promoting a team into the next round when they have been soundly beaten. If this happened to my own team - I would absticate from any games in that competition. For me - whoever made this decision should be sacked. I can understand Celtic as a club are caught between a rock and a hard stone - sporting integrity vs financial rewards of progressing.
3-0 is the score UEFA use in every case like this Going as far back as the Estonia no-show against Scotland in the 90s
