True but Vermaelen already is. Would be happy with Agger at Arsenal but TBH I would prefer if we could just keep Vermaelen. Nastasic would also be a good option if we can't keep the Belgian.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...er-15m-Arsenal-defender-Thomas-Vermaelen.html 20 million and we have a deal? what do you think?
No, Man Utd can **** off. We should have learned after the RVP debacle. Sell Vermaelen abroad if he's going anywhere.
Seeing as TV looks likely to go and Man Utd seeming to be the most keen to get him. What would people say to a swap deal? Jones for TV (wenger bid the same as UTD at 17mn when he moved from Blackburn so Wenger is probably a fan of the lad). Young robust english CB with plenty of potential and the versatility to play in many positions.
Thing is though that he looks like Mr Noseybonk (look him up kids) and would scare the **** out of our younger fans.
Arsene Wenger has not ruled out making further signings before the transfer deadline, but is happy with the business he has already done at Arsenal this summer. Wenger: "We have three and a half weeks until the transfer market closes - we could still strengthen, but we have a big squad" #AFCvMCFC Mmmm he doesn't commit either way. I really hope he is getting in a DM type player.
The size of the squad is irrelevant if it's part full of players past it like Arteta. This surely must be a smokescreen to hide his continuing transfer efforts, however laboured they may be. Although if this isn't a smokescreen and he seriously is satisfied with the squad right now (and particularly that centre midfield area) then could be another seasons of close but no cigar again.
Its not irrelevant at all. A big squad means a big wage bill. Our squad is arguably too big already. Personally I think we could ship out 3-4 players in order to bring in another 1-2 Top class additions.
I think we are carrying some baggage and in need of some trimming. Maybe loan a player or two to lessen the burden.
What I meant was... The size of a squad should not be the factor that satisfies a manager. It should be the quality of those players.
Interesting from Wenger today... “He can play a major role because, in what I observe, he has the qualities to impose himself in this part of the team,” he said. “I believe he can play in defensive midfield and that’s where I see him.” Looks like Chambers may well be our new Defensive midfielder. Also Vermalen look set to join Barca so a quality CB is a must.
He might see him there but that doesn't mean he'll be playing him anytime soon. Just imagine playing a 19 year old with minimal experience in this position against a top side. It would be crazy.
Yeah..I agree. The thing is I could see Wenger doing it. Wasn't it not crazy to play Sanogo ahead of Giroud last Season against Bayern Munich in the Champions League? A 20 year old with no first team goals and less than 10 apps against the former European Champions? He is willing to do these kinds of things.
BBC transfer rumours are quoting Cavanni's agent in saying that both you and Liverpool are speaking to PSG about him
Yes but Sanogo has played as a CF for most of his career and where all his top flight experience comes from. Playing a partial season for Southampton as a RB isn't quite the same for Chambers. So this would be a huge risk for Wenger to make, and something I can't see him doing with Chambers. But he'll probably do it a few years later maybe.
True but.. Henry, Van Persie, Kolo Toure, Alex song etc.. all go to show he's more than willing to do it. Arteta is getting ever slower, Wenger has stated he doesn't see Wilshere playing that role and Flamini seems somewhat out of favour. I guess we will see.
