And where are those players now. I'd say Pilkington done well, Morison, E Bennet done very little. The ones I liked have done well. I don't moan about everyone, just those I don't think are suitable.Whittaker was not good enough, neither was Redmond. I think you will find the vast majority ofcomplaints proved to be correct. RVW, Bennet, Tettey, Pilkington, Hooper (my issue was the fee) Ollson. All ok.
Let's be honest, your issue with Hooper was not just the fee... Something about his height and weight if I recall?
That's a point I have made several times, but to make clear to people how good Lambert was. They were nothing when he signed them, they're nothing now. They all had the best spells of their careers under Paul Lambert, at Norwich City. The man was a genius, no-one can convince me otherwise. Lambert at Villa would do well to remember what and who made him so successful in the first place.
Burly, he does rely on his physique, it's why he managed the goals he got because nobody else helped him. Don't recall saying he was tall. Never said we shouldn't sign him, just not for silly money. And he is burly. And he cannot pass. He is a finisher. My point at the time was I believed he was going to be used as a target man for long balls. He's no good at either despite being used as such far too often. So whilst I was wrong about the type, because he's a face front player, he was not really used as such.
Burly means large. Check a dictionary. He is not large. He is stocky, at best. But that is different. Hodor is burly/ And he remains not a target man.
I suggest you check out the synonyms. It is perfectly acceptable to label him burly. He has more of the Rooney about him than an averagely built Surman.
QPR fan in peace, Good Signing in O'Neil, not always pretty but gives everything including his front teeth in the play off semi. Having been promoted several times he is, at least, a bloody good, good luck charm!
Synonym does not mean a definition. Rooney is a reasonable comparison - which I made before, when demonstrating this. You can't steal it! Rooney is not burly either. Yep, sorry. It's just Carrabuh was having a swing at someone else for not apologising for something that they got wrong. I think the point has been made though...
Never seen such a fascination on the definition of burly. On to O'Neil, absolutely no complaints from me. A solid midfielder who'll fight tooth and nail, best part of it he is a free, I also think experience in the middle of the park was essential this summer.
Nice walk up the cliff path and lighthouse, back home to see what I've been missing..... <shouldhavetakenatentemoticon>
No complaints so long as we don't start off loading midfielders though, I must admit I don't know too much about O'Neil.
