I wonder whether Ciman is a player the club have been aware of for a while. Scouting clubs like Standard Leige and Anderlecht for good players at reasonable prices sounds like something we would have been doing. I'll readily admit to not knowing anything about him and having never seen him play, but we definitely need a new CB (perhaps even first choice). Like many others on here, I'm not wholly convinced by the Martin / Whittaker right side of defence. They may do very well, but watching them against Celta (ok we won't come up against players like that in the Championship) made me feel a bit uneasy.
if we get a new centre back i do wonder what that means for Ryan Bennett - will we move him on? turner, martin and the addition would be the pick of 3 out of 3.
Ryan Bennett (or Elliott) can play at right-back - in truth I'd feel more comfortable with either of those two in the position than Whittaker. Ryan and Turner are my preferred choice for the CB pairing but as Adams sees Rusty/Anthea as the selected option it will mean limited options for Ryan Bennett and that's why I'd like to see him given a go at RB.
Unfortunately, I can't see this one happening. IMO, the EDP has picked it up from elsewhere along with that about Barrow. Be a great signing as he can play CB and RB, but why would he drop down to the Championship?
On another front, Carlton Morris may be going out on loan to Oxford Utd: http://carrowroad.net/cnews/index.php?post=young-striker-on-loan-to-oxford
have the edp EVER done any transfer digging of their own in the past? i can't recall them doing so. they just feed off other outlets so it doesn't mean anything.
Martin is a shocking centre back there was a point last season when he costing us a goal a game due to atrocious marking on set pieces and that was when he was being played at right back too, if we kept up he would of been one of the players I would of considered replacing based on his first half of the season. Not very happy with him getting the captaincy, along with Bassong his a very weak leader and I didn't see him shout a single thing during the batterings we got last season, we need a quality centre back with the influence and leadership of Holt.
There's no way Martin is a 'shocking' center back. I don't think he's fantastic, as I doubt do many people, but he's a solid dependable player who had been with the club for a long time. He's played well for us at CB. One headed goal line clearance in particular stands out for me whilst he was playing there. He also starts for Scotland at CB. I know it's Scotland but we're in the championship now. We have to be realistic. Good CBs cost a lot of money (which we're fortunate enough to have some of at the moment), but convincing a good CB, who's also a captain, to come to Norwich will be tough.
It disturbs me that so many City fans are so willing to rubbish our players, management team, and Board. Just what do they support?
Right Back is Martins strong area, for a centre back he'd need to strengthen up, wise up and mark more efficiently, his had the odd performance under Lambert where he was good in the centre back position but after last season I'm not convinced in the slightest. I'm beginning to agree with a lot of fans about our defence, especially since the attacking midfield situation has temporarily improved with Surman and Hoolahans return.
Interesting that Tom Adeyemi has handed in a transfer request at brum. Seems to have improved a great deal since he left and could be a good replacement for Fer if he is to leave.
Quote from NA today - “We know our best players will be in demand and if they are and the money gets to a certain level then it’s up to the chief executive and the board to decide if it’s in the interests of the club. They are all top, top players.” This was in particular with reference to Fer.
