I had a fascinating 20 minute discussion with him in the Hotel in Zilina. He's quite a character. I voted 'no' to Hull Tigers but I'm not so sure I would any more. Assem Allam is not just a very successful businessman, he's a Hull City (Hull Tigers?) fanatic and a more passionate supporter than most. He wants to make changes not because he can but because he loves the club and wants to see it take off. That's hard when your basic revenue is £x million down on those you're competing with because of it being such a small stadium. But he's also not for fighting battles he either can't win or turn out to be a Pyrrhic victory. If he gets an offer for the club he would probably take it and then we would have an owner who is a businessman and not a passionate supporter. A businessman who would come in with the same challenge, we are probably 10,000 seats light of being able to compete. I may not like everything Assem Allam wants to do but now I know his heart is truly with our club I would rather back him 100% than the alternative. I want more days like Wembley and Trencin away. Not proudly saying we kept our name with 35 others on a cold, wet Friday night in Swansea being beaten 2-0.
Outwardly Knowing Dr Allam is not Unbeknown to the supporters The Debacle of last season's name change highlighted to the fans , a deeper, clearer sense of Identity in Our Chairman. The fans of this forum vociferally challenged his VIEW .On the Clubs Identity. It was the Fans, expressing themselves collectively. There may b 1, But as a generalization most posters are all to aware of his Passion for the City & now his position. His image or his identity has never been in question. As a Man & a Chairman& a businessman there is an open need of true transparacies. It's obvious also that in which he has done for the club. Every one on this thread is Nice & I'm sure Dr Assem Allam is a very nice man also.
If he wants more seats, he needs to stop sulking and start talking to the people who own the stadium. The same people that are the reason for the name change application. The extra revenue claim is complete and utter bollocks, there has never been a sponsorship deal based on a name change, even the deal from the Allam's imaginary friends was reported to have cost us less than we've already raised from increased ticket prices. Assem is a very friendly man when you meet him, but challenge the bullshit he comes out with and he'll quickly find out it's just an act.
When did he suddenly become a passionate supporter of Hull city ? He's always told us he isn't a football man, same with his son. They don't even understand the game. Ehab reiterated this only recently. As for making changes(you obviously mean the name), i think we have already established, the name change won't make the club a penny. In fact it will actually lose the club money,by further alienating it's core support.
Poor bugger, raises his head above the parapet only to be shot down in flames. Each to their own is my philosophy.
People are against the name change because they don't think it will raise extra cash - they think it will lose the club money because they would become a laughing stock If the club wants an extension to the KC they need to talk to the council There are various instances of Allam saying one thing and then doing the opposite I don't think any number of nice chats would change my view on what needs to be done and it certainly wouldn't get me to agree with anything he said
That's my philosophy too. This is a forum, it's here so people can give their opinion, and read the opinions of others, debate stuff ? What's up ?
10,000 seats light - he can't even sell all the existing seats after the best season ever - reason, his arrogant disregard to the loyal customers has pissed almost everyone off - last season we had 19000 sold by now - this season its 15500 - he's seriously ****ed up - he's not a nice man - he's a **** - people thought Savile was a nice man - funny how people like someone just because they throw their money around - doesn't matter what lurks behind the money eh
