This is what Pardew said after the game. FFS it wasn't the fact that you played 2 youngsters up front who received no service whatsoever. It was the fact that our MF was non existant and our defenders hadn't a clue.

This is what Alan Pardew said immediately after the game we lost 3-1 to a better Malaga side, and we were 3-0 down at the break:

¨To be honest I have to take a lot of the blame when I started two young players up front.¨ ¨Second half we were a lot better and the senior players who we brought on were a lot better.¨

¨And I protected a few today because we have a tough game tomorrow, and we will have a more experienced side out.¨ ¨I take a lot of the blame for today – but we’re getting there.¨

We suppose he’s talking about Adam Armstrong and Ayoze Perez as the two young players up front. and both were replaced at half time.

Newcastle were basically outclassed by a slick-passing Malaga side in the first half, but the lads came back well in the final 45 minutes, but the defense still appears to be a weakness, and at times in the first half we were all at sea.

Newcastle probably need to sign at least one new center-back this summer, to shore up the defensive options – and you cannot argue with the facts – that we conceded 59 goals in the Premier League last season, and a worst ever 68 goals conceded in the season before last. :(

That should tell us something – like our defense isn’t good enough.

We want to see a much improved performance tomorrow afternoon against our German hosts Schalke 04 – but that game will not be an easy one either ".

    What do you think?

At the final whistle 100 West Ham fans stormed our end apparently.
Both lasses and lads got hit by the mindless scum.

Thank you for clearing that up, I was beginning to wonder why they were showing no intention of trying to win this game

What I saw was the same stupid tactics and player positions that we saw last season.

No, he's not in the squad (and won't have trained at all with his team mates yet). Normally takes a few days before they let em loose on the pitch

Apparently he's on the subs bench!

    http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20140803/schalke-v-newcastle-krul-returns_2281670_4050745

Tim Krul makes his first appearance of pre-season as Newcastle United face Schalke in their second and final game of the Schalke 04 Cup (5.45pm kick-off local time).

The Dutch goalkeeper only returned to Tyneside earlier this week, after being given an extended summer break following his participation at the World Cup.
And Krul has been named in a much-changed Magpies' starting line-up, which sees eight alterations from Saturday's 3-1 defeat at the hands of Malaga.

The only survivors from that match are captain Fabricio Coloccini and midfielders Moussa Sissoko and Jack Colback, as manager Alan Pardew shuffles his pack against the German hosts.

United are expected to line up in a 4-4-2 formation, with Krul behind a back four of Vurnon Anita, Mike Williamson, Coloccini and Paul Dummett.

Gabriel Obertan - who netted against Malaga - and teenager Rolando Aarons will take up roles on either flank, with Sissoko and Colback patrolling the middle of the park.

And it is an all-French strike force, as summer signing Emmanuel Riviere teams up with Yoan Gouffran to provide Newcastle's firepower in the final third.

On the substitutes' bench, there is a place for Argentine striker Facundo Ferreyra, signed on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk only this morning, and he is joined by fellow new arrivals Remy Cabella and Ayoze Perez.
