Genuine question......has there been any demonstrations etc. outside St. Marys through all of this?

I wonder if one of our new ex-players is likely to speak out about what's happened at any time soon. Maybe if JWP goes he can do so rather more eloquently than others?

I've heard some very concerning things this morning about the direction of the club from a reliable source (same as the Shaw tip-off). If I post what I know, the reaction will be along the lines of "nothing new here" but I can assure you it is not good and those of you were were chastised for pessimism should actually be congratulated for foresight and realism. We will certainly be bringing one player in this week but don't let that paper over the cracks (or should I say crevices) that will continue to emerge. Expect further departures including the man who represents everything our academy is about. In this instance, the club will do everything it possibly can to keep him as a symbolic measure, but don't be surprised to see him off too.

Wasn't the guy that told you about Shaw not part of SFC but helping out with the finance side? Just tell us what you have heard, can't really be much worse.

I had prepared myself for Pochettino, Lallana, Lovren, Shaw, Schneiderlin and Rodriguez to leave. I didn't think Chambers or JWP would, but either way I'd prepared myself for a disaster so a couple more names on top of that isn't going to leave me too horrified.

I thought MP and Shaw would go back at the very start. Didn't really think Lallana would back then. No idea about Lovren til Beedy said how he's been and chambers and Rickie were surprises. Any others from now won't be such a shock, but back in April time would never have contemplated them other than Shaw and MP.

Morning all

I have, like most of you, been soaking up events over the past few weeks - initially in disbelief, then anger, then frustration and now an expectancy of what will the future hold.

I have seen lots of theories for what has happened and what will happen.

Have we thought the following may be close to where our club is, taking into context of the EPL, European Super Leagues etc:

We have the best Academy in the UK (arguably in the top 10 in the world).

We recognised the premium that is placed on British players (Lallana, Chambers, Shaw, Walcott, Ox etc).

Our future revenue stream is better made up of bringing through youth, integrating them with the first team and selling them on at large fees.

We replace with (hopefully) European and from further afield for a fraction of the cost (c. 50% less on transfers and possibly salary).

To me, is this not what lots of EU clubs already do including Ajax and of cost Feyenoord (hence the attraction to recruit a manager in the mould of Koeman and hence why he will have accepted - for him we could also be used as a stepping stone).

I dont have a huge issue with this if it allows us to be sustainable and keep dining at the top table.

Any views...

Could work - but not if the players brought in to replace the ones who leave don't get until mid season, by which time the team is in the bottom 3, the manager's under huge pressure and the fans are baying for the board's blood. It won't work in the Championship ......................

I have always said that funding progress by regular sales is a sound business plan, but not on this scale. We are just running out of time and putting huge pressure on the manager and players. However, if we get through this, there is no reason why we can't have a good team again...over to you, Ron.

The worrying thing is that essentially our entire team will have no preseason with their new teammates. That's going to make it even harder for them to gel and adapt.

Yeah, that's my worry. I maintain faith in Koeman to get a team together by signing some new guys with good abilities, but hell he'll have to work fast.

Like I said, if Koeman rebuilds this within 12 months and we're able to push on again - I'll have a lot of respect for the guy.

JRods' agent appears to be saying that he is going nowhere until he has sorted out his fitness from injury, someone's telling porkies again.
Double edged sword I guess, a fully fit JRod will be worth more than an unfit one?
