Did you really think it would be this bad?
I had a fair idea, although like Dan has said JWP would be going further than I would have imagined.
Did you really think it would be this bad?
I've heard some very concerning things this morning about the direction of the club from a reliable source (same as the Shaw tip-off). If I post what I know, the reaction will be along the lines of "nothing new here" but I can assure you it is not good and those of you were were chastised for pessimism should actually be congratulated for foresight and realism. We will certainly be bringing one player in this week but don't let that paper over the cracks (or should I say crevices) that will continue to emerge. Expect further departures including the man who represents everything our academy is about. In this instance, the club will do everything it possibly can to keep him as a symbolic measure, but don't be surprised to see him off too.
I had prepared myself for Pochettino, Lallana, Lovren, Shaw, Schneiderlin and Rodriguez to leave. I didn't think Chambers or JWP would, but either way I'd prepared myself for a disaster so a couple more names on top of that isn't going to leave me too horrified.
You just know that Cork's Dad will be tlling him to leave.Only Jack Corks old man so far........
Morning all
I have, like most of you, been soaking up events over the past few weeks - initially in disbelief, then anger, then frustration and now an expectancy of what will the future hold.
I have seen lots of theories for what has happened and what will happen.
Have we thought the following may be close to where our club is, taking into context of the EPL, European Super Leagues etc:
We have the best Academy in the UK (arguably in the top 10 in the world).
We recognised the premium that is placed on British players (Lallana, Chambers, Shaw, Walcott, Ox etc).
Our future revenue stream is better made up of bringing through youth, integrating them with the first team and selling them on at large fees.
We replace with (hopefully) European and from further afield for a fraction of the cost (c. 50% less on transfers and possibly salary).
To me, is this not what lots of EU clubs already do including Ajax and of cost Feyenoord (hence the attraction to recruit a manager in the mould of Koeman and hence why he will have accepted - for him we could also be used as a stepping stone).
I dont have a huge issue with this if it allows us to be sustainable and keep dining at the top table.
Any views...
The worrying thing is that essentially our entire team will have no preseason with their new teammates. That's going to make it even harder for them to gel and adapt.
