"Four years have passed since the [heart] defect was originally discovered and the forward has never missed a game due to anything linked with his condition.

In his first season with Marseille he scored 15 goals in 31 games, following that up with 12 goals in 29 games. It would be strange that after his half-season with QPR and then the very successful loan spell with Newcastle United, that Liverpool would feel that the defect would have any further effect on his career.

The only other possible explanation could be a slight knee niggle that he had trouble with at the end of the 2011/12 season, and was exasperated when Marseille continued to rush the player back from injury.

For Liverpool to have cancelled the deal due to a known and well documented condition affecting his heart would be very strange. If it hasn’t given the player any problems in four years, it is unlikely it would be a problem in the future."

    No link, lol

It's not even saying that it's his knee you whopper, it's merely guessing what it might be if it wasn't his heart defect. <laugh>

So were we worried about him ending up like Muamba? I'm reading a few pieces saying it's down to Borini digging his heels in and the failed medical is a cover.

Surely we can't go around saying people have failed medicals if that's not the case as it will seriously affect the poor lads future!

Don't worry lads as Rodgers will move for JayRod to complete his Panini album! It would have been easier to move to SMS himself. Of all the signings - give Rickie a cheer from us as he's a top fella

This. The official reason hasn't been given, the cover is paperwork and the real reason will be medical but an agreement will be made not to disclose info, just like when you go to drs, your medical records are strictly confidential. No one is allowed to go blurring that stuff out as it's private and as you say, could damage Remys future employment.

Plenty of players have failed medicals over the years. Demba Ba with his supposed cheese straw knees for one.

At the end of the day it's down to subjective opinion and management of risk.

Club a) might decide that the issue is bad enough that it creates a risk that isn't worth taking, but club b ) might conclude that they're happy with it as their medical advice might be slightly different and their risk factor considered less.

    It's not an exact science.

No club officially comes out and gives the reason for the failed medical though.
