Israel is a really small country, hence they fight tooth and nail for every inch. Many people believe that Israel will never go through with the concept of a two state solution because it would basically render the country tiny and untenable.
The simple answer is there is no easy/simple solution.
The Palestinians living in Gaza have been under blockade for seven years and are dying slowly. This will have to come to a head soon. The international community will not continue to turn a blind eye forever.
 
There is no solution to this problem, so it seems. I believe that is where this thread stands in the majority of the people's responses who have taken the trouble to post on it. Fair play to you one and all for your efforts. I'm not too comfortable with posters looking to dissect another's post for ambiguities on this matter. I think that the posters who have taken the trouble to do so may have posted in a speaking out loud fashion to make some kind of sense as to what is going on out there, and if this forum has supplied this platform, then all well and good.

There have been atrocities carried out by both sides and it's an incredible conundrum that I doubt can be solved by the best intentions of this football forum or any other football forum for that matter.

In the meantime this thread shall be allowed to run until about noon tomorrow. It will then be closed. So anything anybody wants to say about this matter has around eleven hours to solve or debate it. We will then get back to the football. <steam>

For anyone directly involved in this, you have my sincerest best wishes for you and your loved ones. I can't even begin to imagine the hell that you are going through. Nor may I even begin to afford you an outsiders take on matters having not having experienced what you are currently.

Also you're wrong again, KFC buckets have no chlesterol at all, although the chicken might!

If you take it the way it was intended then it was a joke at himself. Don't try to turn it into something it was not. Lighten up mate, this is a football forum, not a court of law.

I think it would be a shame to close this thread Nines. It's a difficult subject, but the contributions on here have been insightful and well- meaning on the whole. I know it's predominately a football forum, but threads like these make it more interesting for me, if more difficult for you moderators.

It gives anyone a chance to say what they need to before closing it. If there is no further comment than so be it. If we give it a deadline then it gives someone with something to say time to compose it and make it debatable. If the business of this thread is finished then it shall be closed as previously mentioned.

You have control over the swearing you wish to receive on our forum. At the bottom of every thread you have a little check box which you can tick to receive ---Swearing or No Swearing, the choice is all yours.

999s that's ****ing stupid! There are one or two, or just one **** one this board thatmost dislike. I've joined that ****ing club.

By the way everyone else. During the previous 12 hour truce and into the 24 hour truce offered by Israel, Hamas has continued firing rockets into Israel. What would you expect any country to do? I know what I would want to do if someone was doing that to the UK.

I'm ****ing off for my steak now!

It can stay open Stroller, no problem whatsoever. I agree with you too, I don't know enough about this situation and I find it interesting to hear what our more insightful posters have to say on this horrific situation. I googled Christopher Hitchens ( Usually a reliable source and authority on such matters ) to try and get a heads up on the situation but even he didn't offer anything conclusive,.... surprisingly. Let's face it if sb_73 is flummoxed then what chance do the rest of us have? My proposal of closing this thread was purely to stop any of our regular posters from alienating eachother. If everyone wants it to stay open, then fine. If anyone would like this thread closed then that's Ok too. I did other this option soon after this thread opened and no one responded.

My knowledge of this particular subject has probably been improved by the various contributions to this thread. As Stan said elsewhere, it's the non-football stuff on here that makes it more interesting for me.
