Couldn't see a thread for tonight's game so I thought I might create one, and then just keep it going throughout the pre-season. Or if people want to do individual match threads thats cool :)

SO tonight's game. Anyone got any predictions for a lineup? Mine is (initially at least, we all know there will be mass changes)

    Friedel
    Walker Dawson Kaboul Rose
    Capoue Holtby
    Lamela Eriksen Townsend
    Soldado

Although reports from those watching the open training are that Lamela has been playing behind Soldado in those sessions, so who knows!

Game is on BT, the press conference can be seen here:

What are we looking for from the USA tour games ??
What formations, line-ups etc would we consider to be a statement of intent from
Pochettino for the coming season ??

The bare minimum is the midfield looking as if they know what they're doing - last season they were either good defensively but incapable of passing towards, or good going forwards but inept when it came to shielding the back four. Or, on some occasions, ****e going forwards and even ****er defensively.

I'll be looking for the high intensity pressing game and the fast, purposefully ball movement that I'm hoping to see from our Poch team. I guess at least we have the majority of our midfielders available, where as we're missing the two defenders that it would seem we're going to be relying on this season, what with Kaboul seemingly injury prone and Dawson not necessarily now trusted and potentially off anyway.

Friedel, Naughton, Dawson, Fryers, Rose, Holtby, Capoue, Sigurdsson, Townsend, Kane, Lennon

Well.... I got some of them right. Looks a 4-2-3-1 (no surprises there) and Sig behind Kane.

Subs: McGee, Fredericks, Kaboul, Veljkovic, Walker, Carroll, Ceballos, Eriksen, Falque, Lamela, Mason, Soldado.

I'm hoping we get hammered and players struggle as that way we should have a decent start to the season.

@SpursOfficial: Late change to our starting XI - Tom Carroll comes in for Gylfi Sigurdsson

Its probably Sig out? Rumoured to be part of a deal for Davies and Vorm as he'd prefer to go back to Swansea than go to Palace.

And decline the chance to be managed by the deity that is Tony Pulis ??

Big mistake when the swans are relegated and Pulis has Palace comfortable in mid table.

Further reinforcing the legend that is Pulis (given he will be replacing Pochettino mid December) .

Faster pressing is obvious, but the passing from this starting XI is very last season.

We've got to accept rustiness in this first game - good to see Holtby get a goal.

Good start with the goal but we look like a team in early preseason, very sloppy at the back. Good game for us to have though as the MLS players are all mid season, aren't they?

Yes I think so - you're right though (in that we look sloppy and that this is a good game for us to have!)

"We've got to accept rustiness in this first game"

The control and passing from the back four is so poor.
I cannot see those starters having much of a future in Pochettinos' world.
