Agreed - I wrote that statement as an experienced football fan (and so I'm trying to put a positive spin on things) - however, as a person who knows that these players are on a ton of money a week, I question how these players 'forget' to pass the ball to each other after a few weeks off.

You don't have to park the bus against a team whose control and passing is
slow and sloppy. Fast organisation of your MF will suffice. The opponent
will not cut their way thru.

We know this from last season. Brasil 2014 underlined it.

    That was never a penalty!
Cool finish by Pineda though on the penalty

Damn straight - if that's a pen then every single corner in the premiership would end up in a pen

Hopefully we can use up some dodgy penalties against us in pre season and not when it matters!

It's a sad indictment on Dawson that Naughton has been much better than him this half.

Dawson definitely looks well off the pace so far, the rest have been meh but Kane and Rose look a bit sharper and Holtby looks to have a good touch. I won't write Dawson off, it's best to find out the areas you really need to concentrate on early but that really was a stinker of a half from him.

Holtby and Capoue have looked our best players IMO. Good passes over the top by Carroll and Kane for the ball. Very much a second-string (if that with Fryers at CB) defence and its showing. Dempsey and Martins showing surprising invention!

Chris Armstrong never scored in pre season after being signed to replace Klinsmann. Never stopped him having a great season. So anyone who looks crap pre season shouldn't worry.

What great season was that then? I must've missed it :D

A friend oif mine who's an Everton fan used to always say that if Andy Johnson had a poor preseason he'd hit the ground running and that the inverse was true also.

When white hart lane was rocking to '' there's only one chrissy armstrong ''!

You remember the 5-0 thumping of Roma. If that happened again we would have fans claiming it's a sign we have gelled!

I'm not too proud to admit I stuck a tenner on us to win the league after that game. I might have had a few beers in me but still, I was convinced Bentley was going to be a good signing <doh>

That is four of the core of the 2012-13 U21s on the pitch together.

2-2 Soldado pen. Now that one you probably would see given in a PL match. I still think it's soft though, I don't like to see players putting themselves across infront of the defenders like that. Players were credited for being "clever" by doing that last season but it's soft for me, the contact is forced unnecesarily by the striker.

Second half team: Friedel; Fredericks, Kaboul, Veljkovic, Fryers; Capoue, Carroll; Holtby, Lamela, Ceballos; Soldado

Plus we've had Mason for Capoue and Falque for Holtby in the second half
