Marco Reus furious with Barca snub after rejecting United move

The Daily Express relays reports from Spain which say that the German international, who missed out on participation in this summer’s World Cup through injury, and his agent, Volker Struth believed a switch to Catalonia was all but finalised following months of negotiations, only for new Barca boss Luis Enrique to change his mind. It’s said that Andoni Zubizarreta - sporting director of the Spanish giants - wanted Reus, but Enrique is a huge admirer of Suarez and so opted for him instead.

Any truth to these reports? Maybe worth going for?

Le Grove seems to think that we'll get Ospina & Maquillo also that Debuchy is a done deal

Oooh I love Marco Reus. Not sure where he'd fit in now though.

    Yes Please

    Reus----Sanchez----Walcott

front 3 (sell one of Caz or Pod). Imagine the Speed ! the speed. I know we don't need him. But he is better than any other player in our squad ( I rate him higher than Sanchez - though both are Quality). If available we would be crazy not to. But alas I think he will stay at Dortmund now (he is pissed at Barca not Dortmund - also no reason for him to suddenly be inclined to us even if Rosicky is still here) and probably angle a move to Bayern or maybe to Utd.

Ozil plays behind the front three.

We'd still need to buy a DM, a keeper, a RB and a CB. I know Arsene has just brought Sanchez but he'll have a fainting fit if you make him spend the amount required to bag all that!

Personally rate Sanchez a lot higher than Reus.

Reus is a speedy winger who get s decent number of Goals (much like Walcott)

Sanchez on the other hand has more to his game. He can tackle, spot a pass, play almost any forward position and still has the pace and goals.

I'm still expecting (or is that hoping/praying/wishing?) that we'll tie up a deal for 2 RBs and a GK in the next 2 weeks - that then just leaves a DM and a CB. I'm worried that Wenger won't buy a CB unless Vermaelen goes which will be a risk.

And I do get the feeling that Wenger may groom Wilshere to play the 'Gerrard' role of spreading passes and controlling the game from the DM position. But I still hope he signs Bender (my preference) or Kheidira (I'd love this signing).

I'd also like to see him sign a back up striker Ba/Remy to give us rotation/competition.

    We'll see though

We effectively play a 4-3-3 already, with the wingers cutting in to play as forwards.

He's suggesting we'd play Sanchez in the striker position instead of Giroud.

Ozil was played on the wings due to player shortages. With Sanchez and a fit again Walcott, I can't see this happening. Ozil's best position is behind the front three and acting as the puppeteer.

Well still 4-2-3-1 But I was referring to the LWF/ST/RWF positions as bear said, with Ozil in the hole behind the striker.

@Bear I think Reus has all the qualities you have attributed to Sanchez on top of which Reus can hit a great freekick. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlYrndbblKk
Not to mention he links up really well with Ozil for Germany. Before people start complaining I am not complaining about Sanchez, who I think is a phenomenal capture. I just rate Reus higher.

Why is anyone thinking we would get Reus, if he turned down Man U? He snubbed Man U, not the other way round.

no one's thinks we're getting Reus. Even if for some strange reason he wanted to join us it would be a ridiculous way to spend £45m considering who we've just bought

    Same formation.

    Well it's more like a 4 - 2- 1 -3

    ---------------------Sczezney-----------------------
    Debouchy-------BFG------Koscielney--------Gibbs
    -----------Ramsey-------Art/Khed-----------------
    ----------------------Ozil----------------------------
    -Walcott------------Giroud---------------Sanchez-

If I were a betting man that's what I would go with.

This was why I asked about Ozil. Velachiperoo was speculating about how Reus would fit in and it appeared to me it would be Ozil's place he would take from the formation below. I was assuming that Giroud/AN Other was to be added and no way would Ozil be part of the deeper 2. But yes, of course, there are other ways to line-up that Ozil could be accommodated. It depends if Wenger sees Sanchez as potential Centre Forward?
