Metro, mirror, espn all saying we've given up on Khedira because of wages

 

They're more than likely all using the same source

 

Apparently some Italian journalists saying there has been no contact at all between United and Juve over Vidal and no negotiations

 

Balotelli price dropped to £14m according to Italian reports...come on AW... you might never have been interested before but you should be at that price! £14m is worth the gamble in my opinion. Of course, the entire story is probably tosh anyway.

According to Marca we've agreed a fee of €25 million with Real Madrid for the transfer of Khedira
The wage will be £105,000 pw

 

marca are about as reliable as goal and caughtoffside

 

Marca aren't the most reliable lot but I really hope it's true. It'd be a really reasonable fee and wages for the player. He is a top cm with bags of top level experience.

Sanchez, debuchy, khedira and a backup keeper would put us in a really good position going into the new season.

Apparently the problem is the £105k is net which would make it a lot more money. Not sure exactly on Mesut or Sanchez's wages but this would probably be quite a bit more. Is he worth it.

Quite. That, coupled with the fact he'll have only just got back from the World Cup and I can see why there'd be delays. Also, most clubs know in advance if they can match someone's wages before wasting time negotiating fees.

 

I'm hoping we tell verm he has to see out the last year of his contract and try to fight for a place in the team.

Also if we get debuchy finalised and get khedira or bender in plus a backup gk then I wouldn't be against a cheap gamble on balotelli for a cf option if there are funds still available.

If we do get Khedira, I think we would have to let one midfielder go.

 

I wouldn't think so. We needed kallstrom last season due to injuries. Also Arteta is likely to go after maybe another season? I'd think khedira is his early replacement, with Arteta and flamini playing a little less this season to accommodate him.

I'd like to see us retain our whole squad whilst adding these new additions. More squad depth gives us far better chance over the course of a season. If players are then unhappy at the end of the season because of playing time we can deal with that then.

 

Not to do with us, but Demba Ba has gone to Besiktas for £8m. Shame, he's good enough to play in the Premier League instead of some Turkish side.
