Looks like they're planning on milking the premier league cash cow and preparing for the championship next season once again. Which is atrocious given what they've done with their season ticket prices. They're milking every drop they can get.
They are the current bookie favorites to end up 20th place. Not that betting odds mean much pretty sure they had us down as 20th place last season.
I think it's difficult for Burnley, they're certainly the least 'flash' of the clubs coming up. It's an unfashionable club, in a bit of Lancashire, where they still have wooden seats in the ground. Even if they wanted to, I think they'd find getting the targets they actually want very tough. QPR & Leicester would be much more attractive to most players, and of course the already existing Premier League teams would too. They'll make themselves tough to beat, but you really do need more than just a smattering of proven talent in this league, IMO. How do they do that without paying over the odds? Or do they just do the business they do and hope for the best? If they go down, they go down, with no real disasters.
A pal of mine is a big fan for many years and a shareholder, and he is certainly not a happy camper, already resigned to being relegated.
The stats may show different, I cant be arsed checking, but I've always thought of them as a bogey team of ours and I expect us to lose against them regardless of any ****e they sign.
They have been a bogey team in the recent past, but we're a very different team now, they'll be lucky to compete with us with their current squad. I thought they were after Troy Deeney?
Thought to have made a 4/5million bid at the end of last week, which was rejected, Watford wanted 10million for Deeney.
£10m is a ridiculous price, Deeneys ok but £10m FFS! £2m at the most, at least until he proves himself on a bigger stage. I heard Swansea were interested last week as well.
I think as soon as clubs saw Fulham paying 11million for McCormack, championship clubs doubled the price of there prize player's.
Its not just the bookies opinion, its just a reflection of where the money has gone, suggesting every man and his dog thinks Burnley will go down.
The initial fee was just over a million, the rest was add-on's, most of which were triggered when we got promoted.
Deeney I think would do well in the PL. I don't think PL defenders would like his combative approach. I wouldn't mind if we signed him TBH, but not at £10m.
