Its easy to say the box was switched and is the most obvious answer but if that was the case, why is this guy so famous? Someone would have said it was a switch at some point.

Some people can pull it off, some can't. It's all about illusion or slight of hand. He is very good at what he does, but no way did he guess right.
 
I just want to know if the scenes were Ford is shot from the waist up(because of his injury) look ****ed up or not.

His lightsabre is actually like a crucifix with bits coming out the sides as well. Also the stormtroopers have now become self-aware and are off having families and all that lark too.
