A TRIO of Championship clubs are chasing Sunderland starlet Ryan Noble - one of two young guns the Black Cats will consider loaning out this term.

Barnsley, Derby and Ipswich are all sniffing around 20-year-old striker Noble, who broke into the first team picture at the end of last season.

And while Cats boss Steve Bruce will probably want to take a closer look at the England under-19 forward in pre-season, he WILL allow highly-rated defender Louis Laing to drop into the Championship on loan to further his development.

Barnsley are keen on taking him to Oakwell while Ipswich – who may lose Connor Wickham to the Black Cats this summer – are eyeing him as a potential reinforcement.

Derby, who had Noble on loan in September last year, would also like to take him back.

He only made one substitute appearance for the Rams last year before a back problem saw his loan spell ended early.

“We have been asked to be kept informed as to when he is fit,” Clough said at the time.

Noble is well thought of at the Stadium of Light, having established himself as a quick, prolific striker in Keith Bertschin’s reserve side.

He came off the bench three times in the second half of the season and made a good impact in the 2-0 reverse at Birmingham in April.

There is also interest from League One in Laing, who needs first-team football to continue to his excellent progress.

Laing is one of the brightest prospects in the Sunderland Academy, and has been capped by England at under-16, 17 and 18 levels.

He made his debut in the 3-0 defeat against Wolves, replacing John Mensah who controversially refused to shake his hand

Should he be allowed to go on loan?

Do we keep him and use him, or do we try and make him part of the Whickham deal?

    Pass...

thats the funny thing with a loan deal though the game time promise.

when we got Welbeck last year lots were saying why is he getting a game infront of our players, he should be dropped, and now we want to make the same stipulations on another club, and their fans will probably say the same thing.

but yes 1 yr loan deal to Ipswich if we can have Wickham

Agree with smithy, loan both out to teams where they are garunteed football. If that is only league 1 where they're garunteed so be it.

Think all young players should play in the lower leagues before making a step up, just to ground them.

That's the thing though, will he get much of a chance, and if the answer is Yes, why are we bothering chasing Whickham, let's just stick with what we have in Noble. Whats to say Whickham is any better than Noble..

No point leaving Noble playing with the stiffs for another year. Unless we are going to give him regular game time for the first team, we must either send him out on loan or get some money for him.

well look at waghorn, great in the reserves, had a chance, was ok but nothing spectcular, went on loan to ipswich, played well but didnt score that many i dont think, and they bought him for 3 million, change of manager and as far as i know he never got a look in.

is wickham a better player than noble? not a clue, different though and has more experience, and is maybe even younger as well, but we had no strikers back end of last season, and he still didnt really get a chance to show what he can do. its up to bruce he sees him day in day out, scoring in the youth leagues and reserves is a totally different thing than doing it in the PL.

I think a few have said loan him for 12 months as part of a deal for Wickham and for me this is a no brainer for both clubs. Noble desperately needs a season at a good Championship club and Ipswich did wonders for Jack Colback. A year at Coventry did the same for Jordan.

I rate Ryan Noble hugely after following the lads career from youth set up to reserves. One of the best natural finishers I've seen in a while but he does need to have some professional game time under his belt.

Wickham on the other hand already has 2 full seasons (early part of last season he was injured to start with) and a hatful of goals to his name now (13 in 65 games) and is ready for that next challenge. he is physically stronger and at 6ft 2 more of a presence up front currently.

Any deal between both clubs would be good for both clubs ultimately.

not a clue but like you say he can't prove him self untill he gets a crack at it, its a hard possition for bruce but he does like to send them out on loan first, didnt do henderson or colback any harm..

I've only seen a glimpse of the lad but how his career has gone would suggest that he isn't good enough to cut it at the top level and there could be question marks over whether he is even championship standard at this point after his loans spells.

On 25 March 2010, Noble joined Watford on loan until the end of the 2009–10 season.[5] He failed to make a single first-team appearance for the club.[6]

They were fighting relegation and the manager shiot his pants over putting a young loanee player in. Noble left off his own back after saying it was no point being there. The lad has some guts IMO and wont be pissed about.

Dont sell him but loan him out to get some experience. Hes a little belter I'm telling you.

Watford were fighting relegation and Noble was sat on the bench...why loan a goalscorer and not play him? Glad he left and came back..no use going somewhere for playing experience and sitting on the bench.Noble needs playing time,if we're not going to give him that only loan him out to someone who will play him.
