the thing i love about him the most is his hunger seen an interview with him, (think on safc.com) saying how he was loving being involved with the first team, but at the same time he was gutted that he had been on as a sub 3 times now and he hadnt scored!! and that was a dry spell for him hahah i think the kid is gona be massive just hope to god its for us....
Keep him and play the lad or if Bruce thinks he's not up to it yet then loan him out for 6 months and bring him back in January, then if the injuries are piling up again he'll get some game time.
Cant you send him on loan with a call back clause in? SAF took all his boys back from Preston when they sacked his son.
But why hasn't he done anything as of yet its not as if age can be the main factor its nt as if he's 16/17 he's now 20. Thats just a query before the "Kevin Phillips was stacking shelves at that age" argument comes into play. I'm fully aware players develop differently but I don't think anyone should be pinning 'a new hope' badge on him. Send him out on loan and see how he does. I hope he scores goals and comes back contending for the first team.
Dunno what I'd do if I was Noble, but if I was Colback I'd get some hair dye and get rid of the Ginger top. (No offence to any carrot haired people reading this)
Didn't hurt scholesy and it could be beneficial for his team mates to pick him out as his fiery mane is lit up by the sun
hahahahaha you see a fiery mane lit up by the sun, I see a ronald macdonald wig clashing with the orange bibs of the subs.
What Cest said originally about the lad. Wickham in and Noble out on loan, SAFC and Ipswich happy, job done.
I think the problem with Noble is that he and Bruce fell out a little bit at the start of last season because he didn't get to go on the pre season trip with all the lads and Noble took exception and got upset with Bruce. Now we now that Steve Bruce doesn't hold a grudge but supposedly Norwich tried to sign the lad on loan at the beggining of last season and we accepted but Noble rejected it saying he wanted to break the first team.. I think this slightly hindered his progress... However, if we can get a loan deal for the lad and he gets used to the Championship there is no reason why he can't make that step up. It's kind of like an apprentiship being in the chhampionship and when you have impressed there you are offered a contract full time (Giving starts in the premier league)...
IM going to play devils advocate here. As much as I love seeing youth player come through a la Henderson Colback, I think it is much harder to undearth a quality youth striker. There is a greater pressure on them, as their success can be measured simply down to number of goal, midfielders dont get this pressure, so tend to have a better look in. Lets face it, at the end of the day you play a striker to get goals, and if they aren't getting them, then its hard to justify their selection. It reminds me of Freddie Sears at West Ham. Absolutely tore up the reserves and youth team, and went and scored on his first team debut. West Ham fans were raving about him. And why shouldnt they? Local boy come good, its the perfect footballing fairy tale. Unfortunately Sears' form dipped, and he failed to score again. But West Ham fans still wanted him to stay and have a chance. He got loaned out to Championship clubs, and failed to score there. The excuse was having a goal disallowed that should have stood denting his confidence. It was at this point I realised a lot of the West Ham fans were simply looking through claret and blue tinted spectacles. They -really- wanted him to do well, local lad, good early promise, of course they should give him a chance! I just feel that he was given far more of a chance than he should have had. And I fear the same could happen for Noble. It seems a lot of Sunderland fans expectations for him are very, very high, and risk being unrealistically high in some cases. He is being set up for a fall. Of course he deserves a chance, but like Waghorn, if a reasonable offer came in, we should take it. 3 Million for Waggles look very attractive now, he has hardly set the Championship on fire. I guess the crux of my point is, try look at our youth players' ability solely on merit, and don't allow local pride to cloud your judgement. As much as we'd all like our youth players to break through, sometimes Im afraid, it just doesnt work out that simple.
I can see where you're coming from on this matty, but i do think that Noble's figures, regardless of level, point to a striker with something very natural about him. (West Ham is CLARET and Blue, incidentally )
