One last random track before bed. Any oldschool ravers in the house?
I prefer real instruments myself. I'll never understand how a drum machine and a sampler and a loop machine does it for people. It must be a drugs or a generation thing. To combat this nonsense, here are a group of session musicians who are usually noted as being the best in the industry. They have the ability to turn up, have a quick listen and with a knowing nod of the head will be playing whatever needs to be played within four minutes. Here is a collective group of such musicians. The drummer ( Jeff Porcaro ) was renowned as one of the best in the business before his untimely death. Here's Toto playing without Jeff.. and here's Jeff before his death revealing how he came up with his unique drumming riff... Here's another good example of these session musicians....... His debut solo album in 1975 titled 'Ted Nugent'... He followed those up with 'Free-for-all' in 1976 and 'Cat Scratch Fever' in 1977... This is his website - www.tednugent.com He's very well-known for his promotion of hunting and guns...

This post is for you Mr 9's, your the man who says "Is this that god dame robot music I caught my kids listening to.
"I prefer real instruments myself. I'll never understand how a drum machine and a sampler and a loop machine does it for people. It must be a drugs or a generation thing. To combat this nonsense" Ok, sorry I have to take issue with this part of your post as you have kind of broken my music thread rule of respecting other persons musical taste my friend. I would not say it's a generation thing as the guy who lit the torch for house music Frankie Knuckles who sadly passed away this year was 59 and most likely much older than you 9's. I totally agree about looping together samples of other peoples work, this is now very rare as the labels have clamped down on this due to unpaid royalty's. It's very hard to get permission to have samples of other artist work in dance music tracks. Did the electric guitar not get the same sort of put down when they 1st emerged, OK you still have to play it but it was given the same level of stigma during it's conception. Lastly you still need a level of talent to create music however you produce it, with an instrument or with a computer. Trust me you can have all the software you like but as yet there is not a bit of software that makes a top ten hit. Again it's all just a matter of opinion, it's never crap just because me or you don't like it. Oh and one more thing the rave helped break down racial barriers, in 1989 is was a joy to see a crowd of up 30k ravers black white united stomping to this crap. Timeless. Oh also love the three videos in your post 9's. I look forward to more from you Sir.
One more thing, don't worrie as I will not be posting lots of my robot music. Our 9's is not too keen on getting off his face to the drum and the bass!
To my mate Scott, you are sadly missed but never forgotten, RIP!
Hi mate, I do regret what I posted. It was not intended as the way it came across. I thought at the time that I was being humoresque after downing a few mild sherries too many while watching the Holland v Argentina game. I agree with all that you say in post #450 above. I have yet to create a hit single, so who am I to criticize anyone who has done so. Whether it be the 'birdie song' or 'stairway to heaven.' At least they had the gumption to do it. I'm not usually critical about anyone's choice in music, because as you state it is very personal to each individual in one way or another. So fair play to anyone who has created something that has reached all of our ears whether we enjoy it or not. I enjoy all kinds of music from C&W to Reggae and all that falls between. I, in fact have just been learning the Frankie Knuckles bass line to 'Your Love' made popular by Candi Staton's 'You've got the love.' I liked your electric guitar analogy, which I'm still learning to play as well as the bass, the keyboard and the cello. I'm also an accomplished drum player and have played in many bands throughout the years. But having said all that the computers and sampling still riles me. I understand why it happens and I realise that it remains an art form and that it still takes talent to convert it into something else. But it's not for me and nor is the rave and drugs culture that goes with it. I like to hear real instruments playing real music. Maybe I'm just a bit too old fashioned in that sense. Each to their own. My apologies for ruining the vibe of your thread my friend.
Here's an oldie just for you Nines...
Here's a oldie for Stroller and the other pensioners (chortle, chortle, gnurk, gnurk!)
Hey no worries 9's. There is some great posts on this thread. I love all kinds of music and I'm still discovering new music and styles. I appreciate everyone has an opinion and they are entitled to it. I just upsets me when people use there opinion to be critical of others so in the spirit of fairness if it happens on here I will counter argue. I would prefer people just ignored any posts they do not like, I can guarantee there is plenty of stuff I will post that you lot will think WTF. Oh I will try and get down to HQ for a game in early October, I will PM roller when I know which game it will be, I will come down the Crown to meet some of the NOT606 faces! Cheers 9's and have a good weekend everyone. Peace!
Funny guy. I'm not an OAP yet mate, although I do have my over 60's oyster card, which is excellent. Here's a recent track that I rather like.
