You are quite right to point this out Dick any of the British lads in Nick's team could easily be sold prior to the season starting
Works both ways, some fans that are trying to put a positive spin, are also the same people who told us Murray would only sell to people who cared for the club, and that Sordell was a blinding signing... Those same people went on to slaughter both outcomes...
The only info re Gomez was from about 6 weeks ago when Chelsea were said to be eyeing him up (pre birthday). I assume Peeters giving him his first pre season with the first team is to show he will have opportunities here. he returned to training before most too it should be said.
I will wait to see how strong we are at the beginning of the Season before i comment on the strengths and weaknesses of the squad. I am a positive person in life. but i am not blind to the downside of the new owner. But i find the constant negative attitude of some people on here and other forums very draining. Ryan has stated that he is sick of Football. At the moment i feel the same way with Charlton football forums. I just don't get much enjoyment any more, so it seems pointless carrying on.
Blimey, this is the nation of Nelson, Cook, Tarbuck, the blood spilled in the fields of Agincourt, Waterloo, Ypres and maze hill and few grey clouds appear on the horizon and some of you are reaching for the aspirin. Man up FFS!,,, a few bumps in the road and your starting to sound like spurs fans. We have been in much worse positions, but a new chairman and a woman director has sent some of you lot into Narnia. I would recommend counselling, as a trade HR mediator and St. John's ambulance man and I would recommend that some of you take a long hard look at yourselves and buy a budgie.
Evening, After spending over three grand to watch England play in Brazil, I think I have good reason to feel emotionally moribund. But, actually, I'm in a chipper mood after viewing The Valley's new pitch this afternoon. It looks fookin' grand! I admit I did think twice about renewing my STs, yet in the end I relented and signed up for another season of uncertainty and fleeting joy. Signing Yoni Buyens was the tipping point and I fully expect him to justify my outlay. Diego can go and do one, the ungrateful little nerk. Signing off. PEA.
Heard a rumour Crystal Palace were going to pay back their debts. Might have been on the Football Rumours site too though
I wonder if little Diego might gravitate towards Sunderland one day in the not too distant future. His Uruguayan genes, having already surfaced in the form of biting the hand that fed him, I wouldn't put it past daddy to have put the idea into his head to pull a Bosman on a club that has been good to him. Sunderland get a good young player for tuppence and Charlton get screwed. The above is only speculation of course, but I've been supporting Charlton for a very long time and nothing surprises me anymore.
The latest rumour is that if Poyet signed he would have been shipped off to SL. I can't see that it would have been as simple as that, but wouldn't be surprised if there was a grain of truth in it. According to CL, if you believe this rumour you're in the anti-Duchalet Brigade. Personally I'm still in the Doom n Gloom Brigade, but I hope to join the Ra-ra brigade at some point.
Welcome to this wonderful site BR We are small in number but big in passion on here. I have been one of the few to have defended Diego, and think that the owner should have pushed the boat out financially to keep him. I will be sorely pissed off however if he joins his weasel of a Dad at Sunderland. That will smack of underhand dealings.

Seven figure sum is the rumour being mentioned on CL, maybe with add ons. The transfer made the Spanish press yesterday. I normally get a kick out of seeing Charlton get a mention, but this time........
Excuse my ignorance guys, but i thought poyet was lost to us for only maybe $400k ? What obligation is the compensation fee negotiated under ?
What is a $ worth in proper money? but the expectation was for about £400K, however, that is decided by a tribuneral and neither club wanted that so they have agreed a fee between them...... however(again), Charlton were negotiating with both hands tied behind their backs because of the £400k thing
