Gutted. Our best player for years - better at that age than Parker, Bowyer and Shelvey Thanks RD ,you twut
Terrible news, not so much that he can't be replaced by perhaps a more effective midfielder (somebody that adds goals from that position ) but because once again we prove incapable of keeping hold of our best players...
Perhaps it was more to do with ambition rather than money. I can't say I'm excited about the upcoming season so how was Diego feeling.
His philosophy was clear from from day one... I don't think he has any ambition to use his wealth for glory... That's two fans favourites he's lost in the space of 6 months...... POOR
Bottom line is Roley hasn't stopped the rot... One of our most damaging traditions, the inability to hold onto our best players, continues...
Well, it was coming in my opinion, and if everyone on here is right that the club is'nt going very well, it was always likely a young star like Diego thought the same. To be honest, I imagine RD did make a decent offer, but he was never going to pay silly money to a player who wanted out. Now we have to move on. Good luck Diego for the future, now we have to get someone else in.
I wouldn't wish him good luck yet... What if he joins another Championship side..? Personally I don't think he's good enough for the Premier League yet, so if he cares about playing regular football the Championship is a possibility...
Ungrateful little scroat. He was playing us for mugs all season and was always going to leave. You think jimi and slats would have have his contract run down like this without trying to cash in - of course not? Roland is a dick but not that much of dick, and would have made him generous offers, there is only one person here who has been a scroat and that is Diego himself, 6 years of development down the pooper, on a kid that is a millionaire anyway. I don't care now if he ends up playing non league football in Bhutan for the rest of his career. He could have at least signed a two year deal and then left, the little anal wart. I wonder if Suarez will eat him one day.
Who was the tosspot that told us Roley would sit on our young talent longer than "in the past when we sold too early"..?
He showed the same gratitude to Roly as Roly showed to JR for keeping us in the Championship. He's going "elsewhere" ie anywhere but Charlton, which is a bit of a kick in the teeth tbh. If he'd said he was reluctantly leaving a great club, but Arsenal or whoever made him an offer he couldn't refuse that would be different. Oh well, managers and players come and go but the fans are always here...............
Not a fan of RD but this has to be laid at the door of Slater & Jimenez, should have been tied down before being put in the shop window.
Brought up by Hart, given his chance by Powell, I imagine he's grateful to them. Good luck to him, gifted, grounded, pursing a career.
