Really? Fantastic. He was a lovely chap. I think I tried to chat up one of his daughters that night, but I was very drunk and the memory is hazy....... (not that hazy. I did).
I got back in touch with his son for a while, though he was quite a bit younger than me at the time. Ballie was smashing; all enthusiasm and passion.
Was a very funny night actually. Majority of the players were there (it was at Matty's failed club, Celebrations) - stop me if I've told you the story before..... My memories include having a piss next to Peter Rodrigues. Trying to buy Matty a drink at his own club - a beer - he wanted a malibu and coke. Jim Magilton and I had a very amusing chat about the greatness of Jim Magilton. Neil Maddison was a nice lad too. And yes, trying to chat up Ballie's daughter.
No, not heard that one. I've never met Peter Rodrigues; feel like I must. I met Bobby Stokes when he came into see Ballie and Ossie
He was a nice guy. I didn't talk to him whilst weeing (man-rules, obviously) but chatted at points through the evening.
I play online Scrabble with Matty (yeah, we're rock n' roll). He doesn't talk to me about Saints really though, unless it's to say "told you so" when I mentioned Nicola a few weeks ago. EDIT: By the way, he's actually very good at it too. Godders would be proud.
I forgot the man rules when I took a pee next to David Connolly. I asked him if he'd sign a team photo for my lad... He grumpily asked if I would let him wash his hands first!
No news then? The way this conversation has nose-dived (FLT, I blame you) is a sure sign. My own fault. I should have checked the last poster. Come on DTLW, where are you when we need you?
Who fancies compiling all the promising evidence we have on this guy? I would but I don't know my way around Saintsweb. Dark and scary corner of the internet.
