Sorry to sound 'like a dripping tap', but when we played at the Liberty in our first season in the Prem, PL changed tactics sightly at half time and played E Bennett in the 'Wes' role, where he did an excellent job - laid on 2 goals with pinpoint passes and another one Vorm had a brilliant save when he tipped a fierce shot over the bar!!!!!!

Which one of you was it? <cheers>

In response to speculation to Rhodes having a £10m price tag and Norwich interest.

Yes it is. I'm in Morrison's at the moment buying a sausage roll just outside Carrow Road. Bought a multi-bag, as I'm loaded now. J Rhodes.

Bit worried he'll arrive unfit if he's buying multipackes!

    Bah!

If Fulham have paid £11m for McCormack, Hooper must be worth at least that lol. Ok his record was poor (due nearly 100% to crap service) but at least he has had top flight experience. He has time on his contract and is important to us soooo...???

Fairly sure Lafferty alone cost almost £4million.

I see your point though. £11million is ludicrous.

Edit: I may have mis-read your post. I understood it to mean 4m combined, sorry if I've got it wrong!

I thought it was £4m combined for the both of them - £3m for Grabban and £1m for Lafferty, no? Surely we wouldn't spend £4m alone on him would we? <yikes>

I meant £4M combined. I was pretty sure Lafferty was only £1mil but that was just from memory.

I think Hucks is right - transfermarkt certainly seems to think we paid £4m for Lafferty and they're pretty accurate on most things, so £7m combined.

Yeah, I just checked and see that now. Pretty sure someone on here said it was £1M. I thought that was a really good price at the time!

4 million pounds seems ridiculous. I thought he would be a rotation player as well

Surely keeping Wolfswinkel and Hooper would make more sense than blowing £10 million on Rhodes , the £4m for Lafferty seems a bit steep too i obviously have no idea how much Championship players cost these days those figures seem crazy when players like Sturridge are bought for £3.5m from Man City.

Agreed, as I'm sure with a more attacking approach, they will score more goals.

"To have more successes, you have to have more failures!!!" Something I was told by a teacher MANY years ago now!!! <ok>

Keeping RvW and Hooper WOULD make more sense than spending £10m on Rhodes.... but if one or both WANT to leave (although it seems that RvW at least, doesnt) then it makes sense to be looking at a proven goalscorer. If Hooper is desperate to play PL footie with QPR or whoever, then we will let him go providing we get an offer above the £5m we paid. In fact, now McCormack has gone for £10m id be seriously suprised if we got less than that for Hooper. McNally wont want to be out McNallly'd!!!

The best thing about McNally is he'll play hard ball for all he's worth. There will be few players getting away without recouping what we paid for them, and then some!

I agree that is McCormack is going to Fulham for £10+ then we could probably get £12M for Hooper, especially as it's QPR who are interested and we all know they've more money than sense.

I'm liking the noises NA is making re future signings - "The Canaries’ boss dismissed recent speculation City had tabled a £10m bid for Leeds hitman Ross McCormack prior to the Scot’s big money move to Championship rivals Fulham. City have also been touted with Blackburn’s prolific striker Jordan Rhodes, with Blackburn reportedly slapping a similar price tag on the prized frontman, but Adams insists City will only make realistic forays into the market."

City fans are at best apprehensive about Adams as manager, but I am certain of one thing, he is a very clever and astute man. If he can carry these qualities into his managerial foray then I am certain he will be a success. I wonder how many of his detractors are ex Canary callers who he made fools of and wish him I'll.

IMO, it's a story of comings and goings. The only significant losses so far are Snods, Elmander and Yobo, and two of those were loans. At the same time we've added Grabban and Lafferty, but you could also add Elliot Bennett, who hardly played last year, Surman who was out on loan, as well as the Murphy twins, Gafaiti and Loza. Even without the young players, there are currently at least two players for every position except for RB, if Martin moves to CB (though of course he could play at RB if Whitts is injured). Yes, some players will leave, but until they do, Adams has to play a waiting game.

There is also a lot of flexibility in both midfield and up front. As JR pointed out earlier, Bennett showed promise playing behind the striker and both Grabban and Lafferty can play wide as well as at central striker, which also suggests that there could be a lot more movement up front this year.

I agree with that, GE, and think that Adams will surprise a lot of people. He is articulate, has a clear vision of what he wants and how to achieve it with a good squad of players.
