The game has dramatically changed since the sampras era. They changed the balls to stop the monumental bore sampras from serving his way to tournament after tournament. Serve & volley is no longer a tactic, it is extremely rare to see a player serve and volley yet back when thon hairy one was winning wimbledon that was the only tactic going. you used to see 30+ aces a match, it was ****ing ridiculous, the decision to change the balls has transformed tennis massively. Murray is one of the best tennis players of the modern era, his shot selection is 2nd to none and his range of shots is far superior to any player on the circuit. Fed and Nadal never knew what a drop shot was until murray came along, people forget this.
You do make valid points there,although I still think as good a player as Murray is it's a bit strong to assume he would've wiped the floor with everyone back then.
