Yep, that would makes sense. I got the feeling it was never AW's intention to play him much last season but injuries forced his hand. Also, we have Gnabry and Akpom (who they think very highly of I believe), so we are not short of options, whether we think the options are good enough is another thing.....
Agreed again, and that was probably AWs intention last season but Pod and Theo's injuries prevented it from happening. A decent Champs side on loan would improve him no end
Edin Dzeko is apparently stalling on a contract extension at City and only has a year left before leaving on a free. Worth a bid ? I doubt City would sell to us, but he'd be a decent acquisition. Similar player to Giroud but with a killer shot on him.
Sanchez would be fantastic. Remy ....not soooo much. Even you as the eternal optimist have admitted that we need a better centre forward than Giroud in order to compete. Well guess what.... Remy isn't that. He's the French Defoe, good finisher but goes through massive inconsistent spells and has next to no hold up ability. In all honesty I would take Gervinho back ahead of Remy but Mandzukic, Dzeko, Benzema, Huntelaar even Balotelli would all be FAR better buys.
Really can't see City selling Dzeko to us, particularly if we do land Sanchez, Debuchy and a top midfielder, as they will see us as a real threat. Also, I don't think Wenger would want another player in the Giroud mould unless he is going to sell him (which is unlikely). As others have said, it's really not the end of the world if we sign Remy as long as we make improvements elsewhere. My main issue with last season was there wasn't really a viable alternative to Giroud up front. If Remy and Sanchez come in at least we will have some options. In an ideal world I would like an upgrade on Giroud but he is really not as awful as some make out.
I probably would yeah. Gervinho lacks an end product but is a more technically accomplished player. Remy's a better finisher but the rest of his game is garbage. Sanchez is the player I want though. He would be an ideal signing.
A positive article on Debuchy from Squawka: http://www.squawka.com/news/how-would-arsenal-target-mathieu-debuchy-fare-as-bacary-sagnas-replacement/135960 Whoscored.com have him down as the best RB in the league last season: http://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/2/England-Premier-League
Yet he's meeting with Juventus tomorrow? He'd be mad to turn them down. I know where i'd rather play, piss easy league for a dominant team, you don't even have to work hard and you can win stuff, sounds like a dream.
