Until they lose the ball. They'll do well in a weak Spanish league but can't see how that works against top class European tactically aware teams.
You would know, a few players have chose not to go to United in recent times. The prem is not the draw it once was, and London has a bigger attraction than most cities in England. Unless you are city of course and are offering all and sundry 300k a week
Barca are very desperate, they realise that their Bull **** tiki taka tactic has been found out and they can see the writing on the wall, as their team only know how to play that one way. Was so great to see Spain implode at the World Cup. Barca's mainstay players are getting on now, Xavi and Iniesta etc all in their 30's (with the exception of Messi). You cannot play Tiki taka in your 30's, because the fitness starts to fall away. What Barca are doing now is trying to rebuild the entire squad and change its whole philosophy, this will take time. Real will win La Liga next year easily. (Atletico have also been asset stripped by predators, of which Chelsea were one)
But will it be cash up front? Or in installments. According to the press, when Madrid were negotiating for Bale, they still had'nd settled the money due for Modric. And with Barca's finances, it would have to be money up front. Personally,I will be glad to see the back of Suarez, but it's still a lose / lose situation for Liverpool.
That's a bit off mate, Inestia and Xavi who were a huge part of that are done, Spain in the WC? those two are a shadow of their former selves, also Pep is not there any more, he was central to that, Mesi played a little deeper too, saying it was "found out" is not accurate, it worked for years and they dominated Europe until the squad eroded\aged and the manager left. People say it because they did not make the CL final every year or win the league every year, that's football. To play that type of game you need the best players, anyone can do that backs to the wall stuff and hope as you did in 2012. tiki taka as you call it, you do realise that is "passing and movement" right? That Pep barca side were brilliant at it, the passing was simple but the movement was fantastic never ever stopped in the 90 mins and the work rate was immense, to just say it was "found out" is really not saying anything at all. barca at their best did not need to be direct so it was a little boring at times, but boy was it effective
What I meant by found out I guess is open to interpretation. It has started to fail for two reasons: 1) The personnel Barca employed to use that tactic have aged, as you say, and you need the very best to do it well. 2) People have learnt how to counter it with fast, direct counter attacking football. These are the two reasons that Barca have fallen away imo.
In its pomp tika taka was very effective but Barca still relied heavily on 2 players, Xavi and Messi for it to work as well as it did. Most of the other players are relatively interchangeable but these 2 (and iniesta to a lesser extent) were key to its success. Xavi is clearly not the player he was 2 years ago and Messi had by his exceptional standards, an average season (hampered by injuries etc as well). Those 2 struggle, Barca struggle. I think I saw somewhere that Messi is covering a lot less ground during a game than he used to. Whether that's motivation dipping off, injuries, age whatever but even when he's banging in the goals, he's not as effective throughout the game as he was. Obviously he's still amazing though. As you say, the powerful and fast counter attacking teams have certainly found a way of beating Barca more regularly then they were 3-5 years ago.
Apparently Liverpool are asking Barcelona to pay 80 million for him. Not for me, he's worth 50 million in my opinion
If Bale/Ronaldo were around 80m, came with no baggage and were considerably younger (and in Ronaldo's case at least - better), I can't see how Suarez is worth that. In the current market he's worth 60m for me - unless it's PSG then he's worth 200m !!
They can ask what they like but ultimately the player wants to leave and as opposed to last year, it's not to a rival. The fee will be negotiated down. With all this **** storm around him, Liverpool have lost some bargaining power. That bite has probably cost them 10 million at least.
You ruled yourself out of negotiations then? 50 mill for arguably the best player in the world is nothing. 35 mill for an 18 yr old who wont be as good as John Flanagan however......
Bale was not worth 85M, and sewer rat will get more goals than Bale, so 80M is a fair price for a player with 4 years left on his contract
Will he though when he's got to share the limelight with Messi and Neymar? Plus it's not just about goals, Bale is not as much of a striker. Bale also had many years on his contract when he signed for Madrid. He had just beaten Suarez to player of the year, was 4 years younger and had no baggage (inc a 4 month ban). There is no way Suarez is worth as much as Bale was a year ago. Ultimately it's what a club is willing to accept and another is willing to pay but I can't see Barca paying 80m. They are in a load of debt and have FFP considerations too. They've spent a fortune in the last couple of years.
