According to the guy at the Telegraph we are trying to derail Liverpool's deal with Barca re: Sanchez and Suarez.
Its going to take at least 25-30 Million for Sanchez. Would be worth every penny though. There's still lots of Jackson Martinez rumours about. Would be a very good signing IMO, seems like a very Premier league style striker.
we should take £60 million cash to the hotel where Liverpool are staying and say here you go, do you want to sell Suarez to us. if they refuse then give Barca £35 million and make sure we get Sanchez so that barca have to find the rest of the money to buy Suarez. or **** both off and bid for Suarez and Sanchez - now that would be a statement of intent.
Didn't we send Ivan over to Spain over a month ago to negotiate a deal for Sanchez ? Deal done already, if we don't get him it's because those talks in May weren't successful....
It seems AW rates Sanchez highly but it got me thinking, how many truly successful Central/South Americans have played in England ? There's been a few that have stuck around for 2-3 years but none stand out as long serving success stories, why would that be ? They settle in Spain/Portugal so is it a culture thing, or weather related ? Is there a risk in paying £25m+ for a player from the continent ? Joel Campbell too ? Anyone else concerned ?
Long serving success stories ? Who is the longest serving PL player on that list, Gilberto ? And decent squad player but not a world beater IMO
You've got no real point here... south Americans have proven they can perform very well in the premier league.
Well I asked for examples of South American players who had perfomed well in teh premier league over a sustained period of time, you gave me a list that included a player who signed for Liverpool last Summer !
Suarez has performed pretty well in the premier league I would say and he is south american. Besides, even if Sanchez only came for 2-3 years we would still be able to sell him for a good fee. It's really a no brainer for me. Sign him up Arsene.
But what for? What is the benefit of fitting your arbitrary criteria? South Americans play perfectly well in the Prem. We might sign a South American. Whats the problem?
I agree, but this is my concern, Suarez has only been in England for 3 years and appears to be manipulating a move to Barca and there have been plenty from the region who do well in the PL for a short while then look to get out. Gilberto and Zabaletta have longevity and are/were quality players but not game changers, like you I hope Sanchez proves to be the exception
Well I would like Sanchez to stay for the long term if we do manage to sign him. If he did only stay two to three years and performed to a high level in this time then we would probably get more than we paid for him and could replace him with another top quality player. Perhaps the fact he has already spent a few years in Spain might also mean he is less likely to go back. Who knows but I don't think we should be put off him.
How is this man only getting £75k a week at the moment?! Anyway, if we get him on this salary that will be good value: http://metro.co.uk/2014/07/02/arsen...0000-a-week-to-make-gunners-transfer-4784891/ One of the grockels in the comments section of that story suggests AW may mould him into a striker... I could see that actually! Di Maria-------------Ozil---------------Walcott -------------------Sanchez------------------- Ozil surrounded by obscene pace... COME ON WENGER, PULL IT OUT THE BAG!!
Aside from the fact he won the premier league undefeated and won the world cup... thereby making him a world beater... so your statement is fundamentally wrong on all counts.
