He was poor at Alkmaar but then dramatically improved under Koeman in the same league, so he must know how to get the best out of him. But I definitely share concerns about the fee if it's into 8 figures (even in Euros), and would be very concerned if he is signed as our main striker.

Reed talked a lot about scouting and succession plans in his interview - I wonder if Pelle is part of this, or if Koeman has been given a bit of leeway for a signing or two of his own - I assume the latter.

If he's good I'll love it. I'll sing his name, cheer him on and be pissed off when he leaves us next summer and not give my doubt over the signing a second thought (until Tom brings it up every thread) - as with Lovren. If he's **** then I'll roll my eyes and join in with the collective sighs. As of right now, he is neither of those, but for now he has my support, if not my blind faith.
 
Just imagine Pelle in after match interviews. That Feyenoord interview was a lil weird.

It's understatement for effect...I'd been pretty unhappy with replacing Adkins given that we had only just climbed beyond the relegation zone, but when it became apparent that we were playing better football under Poch and Cortese was correct to make the change, I started that thread. So, yeah, I'd say that I was fairly thrilled, because it meant that we were improving (and safe).
 
Dan/Schad/Joe - I have never seen Pelle play and you guys usually have pretty good/fair opinions on players, so I was wondering how often you've seen him play, has it been for whole games/highlights and was it recently? I am asking hoping that you tell me you saw him three years ago, so I can get excited. As I value your opinions, I am holding back my normal "we've got a new striker,.... yippeee" approach.

Only three or four times last season, so take that for all it's worth. It's still three or four times more than most people in here. My opinion is made up of that, and other Feyenoord fans opinions of him, and also a Dutch guy I know whose opinion I trust. But yeah, not too large a sample size from my own eyes.

Hey, that's fine by me. Four times more than me. I wasn't look to trip you there, just genuinely asking and hoping you hadn't seen him for a season or two.

I'm happy to get this Pelle fella in for under £10m. If he scores more than 3 goals he'll be better value than our last big money striker. And i honestly think he'll score 20 this season. I also think he'll form a deadly partnership with JRod when he returns from injury.

I can't wait for the season to start!
