Yep that's what I basically said as well. That's just see what he does for us before saying he is ****.

arguably because he's only scored goals for two years of his career, predominantly against weaker teams, and in a team that played to his strengths.

tbh i'd not be delighted for us to spend big on him but considering the tricky squad situation we're facing, i don't think it's a bad idea for Koeman to start with some familiar players and a familiar style of play to give him a chance of hitting the ground running.

Hopefully he's not the next scapegoat. I actually think he can be okay for us. I still think we need to sign a main striker but at the end of the day if he pulls on a Saints shirt he's going to get my support.

I remember when we signed J Rod people said that he wouldn't cut it in the prem.
I for one am happy with how that one turned out.

I expect him to be ****, but of course I don't want him to be. That's why I'd be likely to moan about it. Honestly, would you rather all of us who don't rate him just pretend we think he's the ****? Or should we all end every single post with "that said it's not impossible he'll succeed and I hope he does well" just to appease people who can't work out it goes without saying?

Nobody likes to be wrong. Every time I see someone claim " I will be happy to be proved wrong", I'm thinking:

That's just say if or when he signs for us we all hope he proves people wrong.

I'd still love the guy if he only scored two goals. Provided they're the winners at Anfield and White Hart Lane of course. All on the volley. From 25 yards. Top corner. Then goes and shushes Brendan Rodgers and Paunchy-tino.

Lets be fair guys, Dan said he was worried about Dejan and when he was proved wrong he hardly acted upset did he?

He'll want Pellè to succeed too, but it's a pretty naff forum if you can't express concerns about a signing or say you think the club are making a mistake.

Maybe that says something about you. I care much more about us having a good striker than I do about being wrong in front of a bunch of strangers on the internet.

I don't mind what you think as it is your opinion. But my opinion is I will wait and see. <ok>

Why are people being odd about Dan worrying that Pelle isn't quite good enough. Perhaps you should also direct that to Jan-Aage Fjortoft who raised the same concerns? Blimey, the day people aren't allowed an opinion is the day Lord Twatbeard learns good PR.

Well said I think DTLW. I can see both sides with this transfer. The fee and his ability are debatable, and the question is will he cope with the Premier league. Koeman knows him well, so I guess he sees something in him, and has convinced Les and co. about that. As others have said, lets wait and see. He may not even sign, who knows.

So will I! I'm not writing him off, just explaining why I don't like the signing very much. I'm not going to boo him onto the pitch.

I'd say a fee of 6 million is hardly debatable. He'll give us a good option if we want to change our style to chase the win and I don't think he'll be our #1 striker, so I think 6 million is okay seeing as it improves the squad depth.

People can choose to agree with dan or not or say can't we wait and see. It is these peoples opinions after all.

I guess the way the club see it too is, Koeman is a respectable manager and a big name, perhaps many didn't think he'd fancy our job, especially with the current predicament.

Over-paying a bit of the player he is adamant he wants to bring with him from Feyenoord may just be a small price to pay to keep him sweet as he presides over what is undoubtedly a pretty rocky spell for Saints right now. If what Guan says is true, we had a £35m budget + sales, so £6m-£8m for Pellè (who I do have doubts about), won't sent me in to meltdown*.

    * - Not claiming that others are, just how I feel about things.

I've started two different threads in the past announcing that I was wrong about something. I'll gladly start another if Pelle goes out and provides a shedload of goals and good link-up play.

I think Pelle has as good a chance as any succeeding with us. The manager knows him really well, he speaks our language. Yes he's untried in the PL, but Suarez & Bony were the same when they arrived here from Holland. He's strong, physical and more mobile than Rickie so I'd welcome him here. Think we still need someone like Ings as well, but for me Pelle & Tadic are good replacements for Rickie & Adam.
