Tim Howard's goalkeeping has been a highlight of this World Cup for me so far. His beard, however, hasn't.

Player aside, which beard is more annoying?

Howard's is magnificent.

Mine is slightly irritating today, actually.

Every so often I get the urge to shave my beard off, then when I do I remember that I was using it to hide at least 18 chins. Those are dark days.

This is the best beard I have seen this summer:

Mine gets irritating just before its weekly trim. My beard envy of Moeen Ali knows no bounds.

Young men often grow beards to look older, but there comes a point when shaving your beard off makes you look ten years younger. Happens to me every morning :)

Got mine when I started tending bar. It gave me a bit of extra confidence. It's not a big one; same sort of thing Lallana is going for but a bit less pathetic.

From the nose up: young man about town.

Nose down: osama bin laden

I've been able to grow a beard since I was about 16. My Head of Year at school always threatened me with detention if I didn't shave. Since I left school I've grown it, feels good man.

And to answer the OP, Lallana's beard can go do one.

Beards are just wrong, in almost all circumstances. I understand that every male feels the need to experiment at some point in their life (I once had a rather forlorn Frank Zappa thing going on), but it pays to get this out of one's system as quickly as possible. Nothing says "look at how vain and self obsessed I am" quite so effectively as facial hair.
