I cant think of anyone. Maybe Canadatiger, the guy from KC, or the couple people who live in FL know of someone. I really cant think of any MLS striker that has his ability to hold up the ball. There is a guy who plays for LA that was supposed to be good but I have so far been unimpressed.

You have to remember that even when I was a kid it was a death sentence for your social life to play soccer. It was considered a girls sport, a communist sport, etc. My high school didnt even have a mens soccer team only a girls one. After we hosted the WC opinions changed but some people still view it as that.

Costa Rica are the only team in the last 8 now that you wouldn't think had a chance of winning: the other 7 are all capable, not a stand out favourite amongst them

At the end of the day if NFL suddenly threatened to take support away from football in this country I'm sure there would be some sort of reaction over here.
Personally I love NFL also

No idea. Have to ask Canadatiger that. I think he said he was familiar with the sport is coached n the US.

I played baseball myself so I got no idea. I tried football one year when living in West Germany but the German coaches told me to quit, never play again, and go back to baseball. Which turned out to be the better plan anyway.

I cant watch the NFL myself. The last straw for me was one year they tried air conditioned helmets. They had this tube they hooked it up to that took the air and cycled it into the helmet. That was the last NFL game I watched. HCAFC, hockey (capitals), some mls if SJ is on, and the yankees during the playoffs for me.

They are trying to get a team in London. They have been talking about how to make it work for a few years.

Yeah I think it would be a novelty that would fizzle out but who knows
I thought bringing more than one game a year to London would be a mistake but selling out 3 surprised me.
I do enjoy our yearly trip to Wembley though last years Vikings v steelers was good
I guess it's a bit smothering over there with the coverage and bollox that surround it
Like to watch the games then forget about it till the next week myself

Like Southwest says they have 3 games all sell outs a year right now there. From all the talk it seems certain they will end up making it happen at some point. The owners want it to happen but the players union is opposed to it.

The Belgians had 18 shots on target compared to the Americans 5 yet had only 44% possession compared to the Americans 56%.
A "hold-up' player is an excuse for him not scoring. Holding up the ball whilst your strikers get into position also allows the defence to bring back their defenders to cover the eventual pass. I would very much doubt that Altidore will be in the next World Cup as the influx of quality (all be it 'old') players into the Mickey Mouse League will certainly develop the talents of USA youth players and help develop their game.

I'm a big NFL fan but don't want a London team. I might well go to the odd game, but I've followed Miami for 32 years and wouldn't stop just because there was suddenly a closer one. And most established British NFL fans are in the same boat.

Not only that but it's the first step to globalising a sporting league, a stencil for those money obsessed ****s at the premier league and it's favourite clubs to look at in admiration and awe.

Plus NFL is **** anyway and destroys wembley.
 
Just shows you what a bit of passion and determination can do for you. Compare that to the England performances, USA were bombing up and down the field for 120 minutes, throwing themselves at anything thrown into the box. I am very sad to say the England team don't have anywhere near that passion.

Exactly what I thought watching it, if you can harness skill with work rate then you have a winning formula.
 
Great effort by the USA players who can be proud of themselves , just shows what you can do with a good work ethic even if you don't have the best players
