The EN video clip below from today at Colney is interesting for several reasons. Grabban has taken the number 7 shirt vacated by Snods. Be interesting to see if that's where he plays under Adams (either as WR in a 4-3-3 or as a winger). Adams also seems to have a clear vision of how the squad will shape up in the new season and who might stay and who might go.

Exactly isn't a difficult thing to do and his hardly like his been treated badly by the majority of the people who support this club. No hatred or bitterness from me too towards Snodgrass I actually have no interest in how most ex players ended up doing, but I don't like to see my club and people who support it get disrespected.

It has got two months to go and I hope Adam's proves me wrong, but I'm allowed to be disappointed about how it's going, I also have every right to have an opinion on the club and if you don't like that then I suggest you get over it.

It might also mean that Ricky really isn't going anywhere, of course it may mean nothing at all of course but you never know....

I don't really see how selling RVW would benefit us in anyway. We're not going to make money on him, if we sell him it will be a big loss. We've seen he has potential to be a good European striker so we might as well keep him this coming season. If he does well his valuation will obviously elevate, if he doesn't improve we make a loss, just like we will do should we sell him now. Personally I think he'll do alright this year, Adams needs to fit him into the system though.

I think one of the worst things which happened to RVW was him scoring a good header on his debut. That's not the type of striker he is and ever since his service was constantly from out wide. I think he'll do better with Snodgrass gone, if we have a winger who can get in behind the defence I reckon RVW will work much better with that type of winger.

Of course, he seems fairly focussed judging by that tweet a few days ago.

miffed about a player who apparently had average to middling ability and was a hinderance to us playing decent football, leaving the club without waving a goodbye? one of my favourite players in the time he was with us, but couldn't care less about a goodbye. what was more important was that when nobody else seemingly gave a damn, he put as much into it as he could...and if his woodwork hits last season had been a couple of inches the other way, we would probably still be in the prem (still arguing over hughton)...

thought the way many fans ripped into him last season was pretty unfair and i wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't particuarly forgiving...- likewise the 'i'll drive you to hull myself' tweets.

he got a move that his effort and ability deserved and we pocketed a great fee for a player with only one year on his contact - i'm slightly scratching my head as to why it ended up being so high? gives the impression that maybe he wasn't desperate to get out? or that there was a great deal of interest in him and even with only the year on the contract, allowed us to play hardball...

while i'll miss him, it would be great to get in a replacement that the majority of us could agree on...elliot bennett isn't that man. well, not unless he can find the form he found for brighton...

This seasons squad numbers makes interesting reading.

    1. John Ruddy
    2. Steven Whittaker
    3.
    4. Bradley Johnson
    5. Russell Martin
    6. Michael Turner
    7. Lewis Grabban
    8. Jonny Howson
    9. Kyle Lafferty
    10. Leroy Fer
    11. Gary Hooper
    12. Anthony Pilkington
    13. Mark Bunn
    14. Wes Hoolahan
    15.
    16. Jamar Loza
    17. Elliott Bennett
    18. Javier Garrido
    19. Luciano Becchio
    20. Ricky van Wolfswinkel
    21. Josh Murphy
    22. Nathan Redmond
    23. Martin Olsson
    24. Ryan Bennett
    25. Jacob Murphy
    26. Declan Rudd
    27. Alexander Tettey
    28.
    29. Andrew Surman
    30. Sebastien Bassong
    31. Adel Gafaiti
    32. Remi Matthews

Looks like Martin is moving to CB and Bassong is off. RvW drops from 9 to 20, so at least a question mark? Olsson stays at 23 and 3 is blank.

Apparently the tweet was "it's just a number I guess". I wonder if there might have been some issues between RvW and Adams at the end of last season, especially with Elmander starting. Perhaps a message to 'earn your place'. It still seems very strange though.

As for Lafferty, I think he will surprise a lot of people, Northampton included perhaps.

Northampton is taking Carrabuh's line that if a player is tall, he can't be skillful. Similar was said by some when Holt signed. It looks to me now that RvW, like Bassong, said no when Adams asked if he wanted to stay and fight for promotion. I can see no other explanation for the number assignment.
