I am beyond disappointed. This does not send a positive message to other clubs, or to our players. Or to our fans. Despicable, no ambition. We will not reinvest that money, only a % of it.

Poch - HE said after NC left that he will remain with saints until the end of season before deciding on his future
Shaw - I am glad we got top money for him, he has the pressure on him now. The united fans are unforgiving I think he could flop.
lallana - Mr Southampton himself. He will be the most missed I believe. The team looked a little lost when he was injured. If he goes to Liverpool he would most likely be a bench warmer anyway.

None of the above will return to st marys to a Heros welcome.

Lambert on the other hand a living saint.

Good luck to them all they are going to need it.

You can't just reinvest (all funds), just for the sake of reinvestment but if Koeman shows he can be trusted then why wouldn't your board back him? they obviously hired him with positive vision in place so lets see how Koeman settles in, as if he settles in well then you can achieve the same 8th position as last year and be in a strong position once again to progress. Its not all doom and gloom.

I agree, but is Liverpool a different country? I know the language is not the same.

Koeman has been told if shaw and lallana go he will have a 70 million pound war chest. I read somewhere the other day can't remember the source.

Now that would be silly wouldn't it? How could anybody support a club that would do such a thing?

I was told at the very start of the Koeman rumours, that if he has a team and youngsters to get the best out of he is very good. Give him shed loads of money, it'll go wrong.

Exactly.(I'll ignore the sarcasm as we actually agree) It's an issue last season which caused me to believe we would finish near to 7th (we finished 6th). Same with yourselves, if you blow all the money on players then you won't get this chance for reinvestment again so hopefully your club will be wiser.

I would be happy for Koeman to spend all the money on the right players, but have no problem if he holds some back because he can't get the type of player he wants. There's still the January window for emergencies....not that I'm advocating that as ideal. How do you keep fans happy....spend a few million on a player who must obviously be rubbish or spend a lot on a player who must be overpriced. No player is ever right.

I am going to wonder quite what our massive scouting team have been doing if we only buy players that were already known to Koeman. I certainly hope we have had long-term targets that we will move for as well.

FLT - I remember your post about RK lack of ability to spend sensibly but hopefully our transfer committee will keep the reigns on him to ensure we spend sensibly
At the end of the day RK is just a Team Manager/First Team Coach and will have influence over incoming players but won't control it

This keeps getting said, as if loyalty to one's employer is a completely alien concept. I don't accept it, frankly. You can't always get what you want, and it isn't okay to ditch an employer who has treated you well because you can make more money elsewhere.

TBH I think they probably factored all this in when deciding on a new manager. Whilst the board may say the right things r.e. keeping players etc I think we should assume that they knew these players were going no matter what so they wanted an experienced manager that could build a team with the money from scratch. I suspect Koeman was aware of this before he took the job on. Like I said on another thread. I look forward to watching Koeman's dream team.
