I wasn't really going to get involved in the Suarez debate. Like most people I thought it was despicable, and worthy of a lengthy ban.
I do think, though, that's it seems worse because the nature of the incident is so alien to us. I doubt any of us have encountered it whilst playing!
Making such a fuss about it, in my view, belittles other savage acts like elbowing in the face or (often seemingly deliberately) attempting to break someone's leg.
Chiellini did manage to finish the game, wasn't stretchered off or left needing his cheekbone re-structured. Just saying, not condoning.
