I could never get the arm raised bit everytime he took a corner unless he was waving to the opposition defender who was going to head it away <whistle>

If this does go ahead, Redmond will probably be one of the biggest beneficiaries. He'll stand a much greater chance of playing on the right, where he's much better. Will probably still need to bring another winger in (is Pilks definitely staying???), but that will no way cost £8m - last summer Diego Capel was being bandied about for that kind of figure!

We definitely need another left winger. Redmond should start on the right. £8m is a great amount to reinvest.

Looks like Steve Brue is assembling a decent squad with all the new signings from last January and now - good luck to him and to Snoddy.

£8m is a really good price for us.

He would be brilliant in the Championship, but at that figure it's worth taking the cash.

The Hull forum seems to be in meltdown about this amount, but I'm adamant they're getting a decent enough deal too because he is quality and will hit the ground running unlike someone from the continent. They shouldn't underestimate the benefit of getting one over on their direct rivals in Sunderland, W Brom etc.

Will this be our record sale?

Dean Ashton went for £7.25m with a couple of clauses that I doubt were fulfilled, so it would seem that way. Depends on how the deal is structured though I guess. If it's £6m + bonuses then it might not be.

They really need it look what Europe does to more established teams, Swansea ran relegation close last year but eventually picked up and they had a better squad and an extra year of PL experience than Hull do. I don't have anything against Hull but I think if they're not careful they may over stretch themselves this year and get relegated.

£8m would be good money for him, but my biggest worry if he goes, would be that we would be losing one of very few players in our squad with real fight, Ultimetely though I would have to say from out side /hull perspective £8m sounds very over priced!
However it turns out, good luck Snoddy your efforts were appreciated.

    Bah!

I think the lack of fight in the team basically came from poor discipline and players not liking the tactics, Gary Holt has said many times that he is a disciplinarian and after seeing him play its hard to doubt. One player with fight doesn't help anything, we need to play with 11 men giving everything for 90 minutes and i hope the new regime will be accepting nothing less.

I am disappointed that he is on his way but nowhere near as gutted as when the likes of Chris Sutton, Dean Ashton, Steve Bruce, Ruel Fox, Rob Fleck, Chris Woods, Mike Phelan departed.

    ^ ^ This ^ ^ <ok>

It was often mentioned how Hughton was a "nice", amenable guy. Sadly, it seemed as if his "nice" amenable attitude also translated itself into on-field performances, too. Look at the implosion vs Man City, for example.

It's slightly unfair to expect leaders / warriors on the pitch if you have coaching staff pussyfooting around being 'kind' to all the opposition - regardless of how good, bad or indifferent they might be. <grr>

I'd want Brighton's Will Buckley to replace him, he's more of a left sided player but he's two footed so can go down both wing. Should be able to get him for half what we got for Snoddy.

I absolutely agree, ideally you want 11 players fighting tooth and nail. However losing one who natural exhibited fight in a team that was not, irrespective of the reasons, is not necessarily a good thing.
I would say that one player with fight will still help, its better than none! Look at Holt, he had fight and inspired others with it. It may be a losing battle with only one, but if things are going badly after 8-10 games this season, even with Gary Holt et al trying to instill fight from 1-11, we may come to miss the natural fight that one man gives!

    Bah!

We already have a replacement - Murphy. When will our kids be given a chance to even sit on the bench? What did Owen say? - along the lines of ' youngsters should be getting 1st team game time by 20 if they are going to make it' If Wilshire, Barkley, Shaw, Sterling etc etc been at our Club they would still be awaiting a chance at 24!!! Give the kids a chance - mainly from the bench - and if they are not good enough get rid of them. Being 4th choice and never given a chance is a waste of time.

We can't rely on a left side of an untried 19 year old and the consistently injured Pilkington. I think a player whose comfortable on both wings would be an advantage.
