Where's the evidence for that? Makes no sense logically, or commercially.

Slater knew his way around a pound note. Slats and Jim invested in the youth set up and knew his value, it hardly is the actions of a millionaire business investor and contracts lawyer to let your major asset run his contract down. I'm sure they must have said to themselves that Poyet kid, how long has he got on his contract? 6 months.oh that alright then.

Poyet is looking out for himself, pissing down the neck of those that helped him. It's what foreigners do. At least Shelvey, jenkinson and parky had the good grace to sign a contract and then leave.

Gifted - possibly, grounded- not at all, greedy most definitely. Pursuing a career? He was hardly, sweeping the bogs at cafc was here?

Every time we lose a player of class we have this abuse. If you were working at a dead end company which looked like it was being run by a bunch of clowns & a competitor business offers you twice, even three times your wage. Are you really saying you would turn it down.
If he turned out to be not quite as good as we had hoped like many are, why don't I hear complaints that the club have in effect sacked junior players, throwing them on the scrap heap at such a young age, where is the loyalty there. The fans must accept this is a job for these players. We can have 11 Charlton fans playing & probably be relegated by Christmas, or we can employ players who will work for a wage & hopefully do well for us. Now who we employ & the tactics we use is a different matter. I wish the boy well, if the club had shown any sense in its running of football affairs I truly believe Poyet would have stayed but he's seen the management & then the replacement management sacked replaced by a journeyman which suggests zero ambition. If only I could transfer my allegiance so easily this season may be a lot less painful
 
What's the problem with signing a contract and not honouring it? It's a time honoured way of paying back the club that made you.

If Burger King wanted me to flip burgers and offered me a life time supply of spot cream to leave McDonalds I would consider it, but this is a kid who fathers is loaded, he himself is likely to be loaded, we are a club that needs money. I am sure that the nicest way to leave a company that trained you, nurtured you, wiped your arse and made you into a player, was to make sure they done alrite out if it. Nobody expects him to be here for life, just show some respect to the fans and the club and let them get something out of it. I doubt we will get our money's worth from the 600k or whatever we will get for him. Quid pro quo Starling.
 
Maybe he felt that a transfer fee would just help fund Standard Liege's Champions League campaign.

I wouldn't blame any player for escaping this club given the chance. The whole set-up stinks. I bet Solly, Wiggins and Cousins regret signing new contracts now they see how things are going. Those three could do better. I was bitterly disappointed when Kermorgant left for a smallish club. But he was intelligent enough to see which way the wind was blowing. RD is going to rape this club until nothing is left.

I shall follow Poyet's career with interest. I think he is good enough to make it at a top club, but even if that does not come off he will be playing somewhere a lot better than Charlton, maybe in Spain.
 
Don't know what went on behind the scenes sad he's goin sadder it's for a pittance BUT there you go tho does make you wonder why we have an academy if we benefit 20 games from the best products ... Not value for money

Jonjo actually signed an extension, knowing that he was going to Liverpool, and still got abuse from some fans, as did Jenkinson.

The other point is that the club that made Poyet is a bit different from the network club that is Charlton now. When Roly got rid of JR it sent a clear signal about loyalty at the club.

Good point, and if the club decides a player isn't going to make the grade, they show him the door because that suits them... Poyet doing what's right for him, is no different...
 
Your missing the point. If you make it in this world have some class to say thank you. Shelvey signed a contract to get more money for cafc. Cafc invested thousands into that kid who was already rich and what does he do? Does he sign up and enable cafc to cash in - no. He fecks off without giving us a return on our investment. That is a crappy thing to do.

And so what if u don't make it in football - that's life. You expect the club to give them a redundancy package?

I really detest self absorbed greedy footballers.

I think this line sums it up well. RD has had a taste of his own medicine, and it has hit him in the only place where it will hurt him - his wallet. The Usual Suspects on CL have leaked that Poyet was made a fantastic financial offer, so it is fair to assume that RD is weeping today as an asset worth £5m at least under contract, now walks away for peanuts.

I don't regret voting for Diego has POTY as he was utter class for the 23 games we got out of him, and was literally head and shoulders above his team mates in terms of technical ability. Anyone who says otherwise didn't go to the games.

Replacing him with Yoni on a 12 month loan is a bitter taster of things to come.

Perhaps a few fans should start looking a bit more critically at the new owner ?
 
This club owes it's very survival on transfer fees - rob lee is the case in mind. Parker, Shelvey, Bowyer all signed up to cafc with a knowledge that their contracts would not be seen out.

If we are not going to get returns on our yoof system we are not going to survive - then of bourse the bigger picture is England will go further backwards possibly on a level with third world countries like Scotland ,Yemen, etc.
 
Everyone knows that Roly is a dick. But poyet debt is to cafc long term survival and the future of its yoof system that he, poyet benefitted from, it has nothing to do with Roly or his mistress Katrien. I can't see that Roly did not offer poyet a deal here ....greedy little runt did not take it.
 
said it on twitter, but this makes a mockery of VG. he's set such a poor example to the kids coming through now. to the paying fan - they're gonna think "why should i spend a £100 a year on someone who's going to shoe us the first chance they get?". he's ruined it for the next generation.

i voted wilson for POTY 'cos i thought something like this would happen.
