Netherland's World Cup defender Ron Vlaar, 29, is being tracked by Queens Park Rangers following uncertainty over his future at Aston Villa. Birmingham Mail (external)

Now I think this guy would be a quality signing for Saints.
He is a commanding centre half, that would fit right in.
Oh and of course, he's Dutch too. Lol

I've never been a big fan. He's strong in the air, but vulnerable on the deck.

I agree. Wrong age and too slow for me - especially considering he'd not come cheap as his stock has never been higher and QPR are in the running which means his wage demansds will be high too. If we are going down the Dutch centre back route I'd prefer one of the Feyenoord boys (ideally) or Van Dijk.

A report in the metro (could be someones blog) saying we're as bad Liverpool fans. A generalisation taken from people who take to twitter to rant.

Twitter is known to have a section of idiots.

Finding a striker who can score 20+ in a season is extremely difficult. I'd rather aim to have at least two who can get 10+, and try and get more goals from midfield too. What's the status of Michu at the moment? I'd at least make an enquiry about him.

Status is he's on his way to West Ham, apparently. As everyone is aware of by now. Still, needs to be laughed at a bit on here first.

Well I think we can all safely assume it'll be a lot. A £30m budget would be an absolute minimum considering what we earn and our lack of debt, and then we know how much we might get for players. It's going to be upwards of £50m. Doesn't mean we'll spend it all this summer though. They've said everything we earn from selling players will be reinvested, so be sure to factor that into your interpretations.

Well, if these figure are correct then lack of ambition certainly can't be cited as reason to leave

Mauricio probably had doubts about his ability to progress us any further and wanted to be at a bigger club (where presumably he thinks it will be easier). I think he'd made up his mind and nothing would sway him. Wonder if there was any truth in the idea that Nicola wanted him sacked at Christmas...seems unlikely, but NC was super-ambitious.
