£18m bloody hell If i was Cardiff i would snap your hand off and drive the both to Southampton for that sort of money...
Thanks...our financial director will be pleased. Likes to save a bob or two, so can put the taxi fare towards buying another player.
Yes, but did you not hear him sing "Chim, chimney, chim, chim cheroo... we hate all those w**kers in claret and blue"
18M is a bit over the top, but not that excessive. Caulker is the one i would prefer us to sign, he is very young for a Premier League centre half, and has a fair bit of improvement in him, and in my opinion will become an England regular in the next couple of years. Pretty sure if we paid 12M for him we wouldnt lose on him. Would welcome Marshall too, although i would have thought 3-4M is the top amount we should pay. As a side note, Caulker is currently 12/1 to join Saints, so if there is any truth in this rumour expect that price to tumble in the next few hours. He is 1/3 to join Everton which suggest to me that they have made some kind of bid for him.
Not logical I know, but I like to get a nice early signing tucked away. Hate that period when everyone and their dog are hoovering up all the players and we've apparently lost the combination to the safe. The WC will be holding things up of course.
Caulker might have a release clause pricing him at £8m according to this That would mean Marshall at £10m
Paying £8m for Caulker would be worth it in the long run unless he's a flop. A young English centre back can go for crazy money if he's good enough, so if he was to have a good time here we could have the option of making a tidy profit. Marshall I really like, and I think he was by a way the best keeper in the league last season, but I struggle to justify paying that much for any keeper. Seems to me the difference between a solid keeper and an exceptional keeper isn't actually that great in terms of their worth. As long as we have two solid keepers who aren't prone to errors, I'll be satisfied.
Wow....2 decent keepers is the stuff dreams are made of....why haven't we thought of this before I'd be happy with Marshall.
