According to a friend who lives in Fairwater(nr Cardiff and connected with the club).... so believe what you will, my mate seems its pretty legit

Apparently we have today made a bid of £18m for Caulker and David Marshall, he said Reed is dealing with it!?

I'd be over the moon if we got it over the line!

Fingers crossed...

I'd love Marshall, and I think Caulker is solid but not great, but that is a lot.

Surely not? That would mean, if we make about £20m profit from selling Lallana, that it'd be pretty much a straight swap for Caulker and Marshall. No thanks.

Caulker looked to a top young player with us and I had high hopes but he used to go on twitter and moan about not playing or if we signed a CB he would make sarcastic comments, he struck me as someone who was moody and arrogant. Plus he is fairly wooden in the way he approaches a game. Good at attacking from corners but he is over rated.

Some spurs fans want us to re-sign him but I can't see much progression in him as a player and he would command a hefty fee, money better spent elsewhere.

18m? So 10m Caulker and 8m Marshall? Kind of the going rate these days, would like to pay less but clubs know we will have a lot of transfer cash.

£13mill for the pair max.

Not getting at you specifically but the comments here generally hint a tad of arrogance given that we are holding out for £30m each on Shaw and Lallana. Caulker cost Cardiff £8m so they are entitled to recoup at least all of that plus a handy profit for an improved player. Marshall admittedly only cost them £500,000 but a decent keeper will knock you back £8-9m and this is an exceptional keeper. £18m for the two sounds a reasonable price to me as well as good business for Cardiff who - like us - are under no obligation to sell.

If we dish it out in spades to the likes of Liverpool we need to show some integrity to others IMO.

But this is the point. Lallana isn't worth as much to Liverpool as he is to us and it's the same here. There's no way Lallana is worth £30mill and Caulker/Marshall worth £18mill.

Edit:
Wouldn't be too bad with Marshall coming with him. I read it quickly at first as 18million for Caulker because of the title.

Still, if I was manager they'd both be on the bench. But we are in desperate need of an extra keeper and centre back as cover that are decent.

I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that Caulker has an £8 million relegation release clause in his contract, which makes the £18 million bid for both plays a little bit unrealistic!
