I've been out and about in Swansea today and have seen quite a few people wearing the new away top but not a single home top. Maybe the away top is better this season - same as last season, where the purple yellow was far more interesting than the home strip.
Yes a lot of fans are saying that....A new kit every season is taking the piss. I understood the centenary one as a one off and a new kit was needed for last season but a new kit again for this season is not needed..Clubs should not be allowed to change shirts so frequently as they do and should do so when the sponsors name has changed and not before...
Clubs should be able to change their kits when they feel like. Nobody is forcing anybody to buy them are they ? If your kids are nagging for them - let them nag and stop being such a pushover. It's another way to chip away at our limited freedom to say they shouldn't be allowed - much like saying teams shouldn't be able to buy new players each season. I like the team having new kits each season - but that doesn't mean I buy each year.
I totally agree and the good news is by changing every season us poor people get a new shirt at a discount price at the end of the season lol
so your endorsing that clubs should rip its fans off every season OMG tell that to the parents with a couple of kids who have bought the centenary kit and last seasons kit and now see the kit they bought are now out of date. Its a rip off and nothing else....
Well there is such a word as "No" Dai. I got told it a lot when I was a kid when I wanted a new bike every Christmas. They'll get over it. Maybe Christmas should only happen every other year as well ? Anyway it's not a new kit every season that's the issue, it's the price thats the problem. An adult shirt with PL badges, Number and name on the back is £60 plus. That's the rip off.
I have said no but that's not the point is it. The club is conning fans because as soon as they promote the new kit and you pay a lot of money kitting your family members out ready to show your support the club then turns around and say your kit you have spent a fortune on is now out of date in less than a year and we have a new kit now.. I call that a rip off and i hope that the sales will be down which they will be and the club gets the message that we love and support the club but stop trying to rip families with kids off as there is no reason to change the kit for this season....
Overall I'm pretty happy with both kits, it's just a shame about the diamond around the sponsor logo..
Clubs have a right to change the kit whenever they want. It's not like the Swans are the only team doing this - it's common place in football. If we were changing our kit every two years, we'd be on hear say how far behind the times we are and how we need to catch up. Ain't no winning. I like both kits...think they look stunning on the players. The away is nicer than the home, but that's only because the sponsor logo looks worse on the home than away. The diamond around the logo is a terrible design. It's a shame because with last years logo the home strip would be close to perfection for me.
Call me cynical but the diamond is a good way to enhance the difference between new and old! I think I'll have to learn to love it... or ignore it.
Dai, I still maintain it's the cost of the kit not the frequency of changing that is the problem. In your last post you stated that people " pay a lot of money" and "spent a small fortune" on the kits. It seems like you're not seeing the wood for the trees.
I am a parent with 3 kids and "not now" works just as well as "No". Every time a new games station, fashion wear, and any of the other Brand new seasonal toy comes parents dont have to buy it. I find my kids dont end up hating me or become dysfunctional just because they dont have the latest thing whatever it is. My kids undersatnd the meaning of value for money and, considering not too much changes with the home kit (apart from sponsor), I find they ar emore than happy at wearing last seasons strip. Those that can afford it great and those that cant make do. I come from a great lineage of making do lol and now so do my kids.
As do most parents these days and have done so for years , we only see the odd spoilt brat and chav parent whereas the majority of us are normal useful human beings going about our business unannounced and with little fuss .
Can you tell me the last time we didnt change our kit. Because I cant remeber it. Every season since we have been at the Liberty as far as I can remember and we are nothing out of the ordinary as every club does it. If you dont want the kit or dont like it dont buy it. Nobody is forced in to buying anything. The debate as to whether it is right or wrong is another thing. But I am sure all clubs do it not just PL. As for the kit I like both. Not fussed on the logo. Why do we change that anyway.
It's certainly a logo which will be remembered which is it's purpose ,certainly from the sponsors point of view.
Your missing the point here. I'm on about having just bought an up to date kit for 3 kids only to find that the kit you have spent a fortune on will be out of date in a very short time. Im asking why change the kit when there is no reason to and keep the kids happy. I can understand if we changed sponsors but not just for the sake of it and no possible reason..what is the diamond all about because that is the only difference and its not needed...stop ripping off fans i say the club is rich enough as it is......
Dai the only reason clubs change kit is purely a commercial one to increase revenue its not a fashion decision. As for the diamond I don't like it on first pass but no doubt it will grown on me. If we have a successful season then frankly it wont matter a jot. Regarding pressure from the kids of course they will want the new one but thats life most men want the latest cars or women want the latest fashion in clothes so its a good lesson in life to be told no. When young lads get to be teenagers its a word they will hear quite a bit from girls
I always buy the new shirts because they are breathable and on a par price wise with quality baselayers in the outdoor shops. At the end of the season the shirts take on their second role and become my new hiking baselayers
