Not really sure how he would play in the formation we currently play - Abdi's back-up? Unless we go back to wingers - but then we would have Murray and Dyer for that right-hand spot If he comes back on a small wage then yeah, go for it.... and seems strange how many ex-players we seem to be getting linked with although under completely different ownership/management
No thanks. What is it with being linked to former players? Don't want Cowie back (don't think he'd get back in the side anyway), I don't want Smith back (ditto), I don't want DG back (ditto) and I don't want Chalobah back either. In fact I'm struggling to think of any former players currently playing that I'd want back. Any suggestions?
I think the only one's I'd have back are ones we've had on loan - Ben Foster, Vydra, Toszer. Maybe Mariappa!
I'm not counting Toszer as an ex player...yet. Not sure about Vydra (too much baggage now) but Aidy M is a good shout.
Been linked with a striker from Granada - but his agent seems to have found a number of clubs interested. As for Cowie - you know what we'd get in terms of fitness and power.
Yup, I'd take Ashley back. I'd take Eustace and Hoggy back too. I suppose the thing they have in common is none of the ones I'd want back are being linked to us.
Sounds like Battocchio and Ranegie might be leaving? http://www.tuttoudinese.it/gli-ex/gli-occhi-della-a-su-battocchio-24224 (Nani has tried to move him on before) http://www.fotbolltransfers.com/site/news/42015 (Quoted as saying if Deeney stays the club will help him move on) http://www.wfcforums.com/showthread.php?51747-Ranegie-could-move-on Be a shame to lose them as we'd have to find another striker at least.
A strange one that, confirmed by the WO http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...s_he_ll_leave_if_Deeney_remains_with_Hornets/
I hope the Batty rumour is not true. He can definitely do a decent job for us next season. Not a good sign if he is allowed to leave.
Batty is the perpetual transfer rumour, which is a shame. Some rubbish spouted on the Wobby site as usual. With Troy still here Ranegie will only be a back up striker as undoubtedly we will be after a Vydra type player to compliment his style. Ranegie needs to be playing, not benchwarming. I'm not convinced Ranegie is the right partner for Troy and he may feel that the younger, faster, untried strikers will get first dibs with Troy. Pity, really, I think he's better than last season's from suggests.
If Batto leaves heads will roll!! He has been a revelation at times and brings so much to the midfield that he is too valuable to let go. As for Ranegie I get the impression the club dont want him if we keep Deeney, which I find totally astounding. He and Deeney seemed to have an instant chemistry and he offers us something completely different to anyone else we have in a plan B of someone to get balls in from the wings and he is likely to get his head on it. Deeney didnt score a goal with his head last season, so we need a striker to do that. If we are 0-1 in the 80th min we need balls in the box and he will thrive.
It sounds like it is Ranegie's choice, and if we do bring in Vydra (or someone similar) and keep Deeney, then that will be the obvious partnership. Can't really blame Ranegie for not wanting to be the 'back up' option. He's 30, and is probably aiming to be in the Sweden squad for the Euros, so he needs first team games. I hope we keep him as he does look decent, but can understand why he would leave for more starts elsewhere As for Batty.... I do hope we keep him. For some reason his name keeps popping up to leave. I believe he is 1 of only 2 non Italy-based players in the under-21 team, looks a talent and seems to love it here. Not really sure what the problem is. Would rather him than another free, looking for large contract...
i didn't read it that way at all. As far as i can see, the club had every intention of him being Deeney's replacement either last January or this summer..but if Deeney doesn't get sold, then it would seem they don't see Renegie as being necessary, and they'd rather get in a Vydra type player (and the Vydra rumours haven't gone away yet btw!)...i think poor Renegie is getting an unnecessary hard time because of a badly written headline tbh...
I agree, the headline hasn't helped him. There is only one quote in the whole article: “It all depends on the situation,” Ranegie told Sport Expressen. “The status is if Troy Deeney is sold, I am his replacement. Otherwise the club has agreed to find me a new club.” The way he says the club has agreed to find him a new club, it sounds (to me) like he has asked to be first choice or to be allowed to leave - which I fully understand and respect from his point of view. I guess it will be a 'wait and see' if anyone comes in with a big enough bid for Deeney to go - if not, Ranegie goes. Be iteresting to see how much we would get for him, seeming I think he has 3 years left on his contract....
